Hopefully Helenius doesn't get a title shot after this. He's very much in the same boat as Martin now. Haymon somehow maneuvered them both into undeserved eliminators (although Kownacki was probably the real target recipient of the eliminator) and now they're theoretically mandatories even though nobody in the world wants to see them fight AJ or Fury.
Maybe we can get Martin vs. Helenius now as an extra double super duper final eliminator.
Martin vs. Helenius gonna be a great option for sure. The matchup looks quite even and can develop to an entertaining affair. Both are big, strong, with good punching power. Helenius is more composed and methodical. If not his age, I'll pick him for sure. Hopefully the fight will be on qnd he'll be ready like yesterday.
And no title fight provides such a big intrest as Fury-Joshua. It must happen next. But it won't unfortunately.

Hopefully this is just one bracket of IBF's neverending eliminators. I expect that Kownacki was supposed to win to eventually be mandatory but as it stands, Martin v Helenius winner should then fight someone along the lines of Ruiz/Kabayel/Hunter/Hrgovic as a final eliminator for the mandatory in late 2021.

It wasn’t a final eliminator. It was just an eliminator.
He’s not gonna be ordered next is he? WBA will probably create a WBA ‘Bronze’ belt for him.

Rewatched this fight for a couple of times already, an awesome bout. An action-packed competetive showdown. Kownacki set the pace, but Helenius was fighting back and outfought Kownacki eventually. A one of the fights of the year. And upsets too.

I watched it again too.
I could see Helenius trying to box. I could see him trying to step to the side when Kownacki was coming forward. It's just that the relentless pressure of Kownacki was nullifying a lot of that. And for sure, Helenius was slowing a bit.
It still makes me think that Kownacki (in tip top shape) is a tough night for any of the lesser punchers out there.
I'm not writing Kownacki off. Sure, I laughed when he was dropped, because it was about time that happened. Still, only the better guys will beat him if he stays motivated. And I feel Kownacki against guys like Ruiez/Parker/H Fury and even Whyte would be really entertaining.

sure there's an explanation for it, but right after the fight was over, there were three 3! votes for helen by k.o., if you look now 7, by the time i'm done writing it may be 10 people who voted for helenius by knockout, wouldn't make sense to continue backdoor voting for a fight from yesterday??? cheaters everywhere.
Ok, I must admit. I voted AFTER the bout. ha ha
Seems like polls should be closed once the fight begins. But I would have basically called this fight a 50/50 fight. Either fighter could have won this by knockout. Just depends on who trained the hardest and who wanted it more. Looks like all that goes to Helenius.

The huge odds in Adam's favor were crazy. I didn't see this as an even fight but maybe 2-1 odds, perhaps 3-1. But I heard 20-1? Am I remembering that right?

If not their recents bouts, especially against Washington, I would even pick Helenius to win, but with Helenius' loss to Washington it seemed, that Helenius was no longer there, so the huge odds weren't that surprising. Yet Helenius was able to bounce back his career.

How does a ref even miss that? It was a totally clear kd
And Kownacki had to go right back in the line of fire rather than take a count he might of recoverd
