Can't see Whittaker stepping up much in his next fight, they got away with one last night so a feather fisted TBA billed most likely option.
A good looking card ruined by the referee in 2 of the fights

I watched it again this morning, hungover but more or less sober.

It wasn't on the level of the IJL Stoppage of Maccaraneli v McKenzie, but it was without doubt an early Stoppage, British stoppage, home fighter Stoppage whatever you want to call it.

Foster is an experienced ref who does this time and time again. When Cameron went back onto the ropes he could have given a count, not wave it off.

We have so many fights ruined because of the refs in the UK.

Imagine some of the all time classic fights, Bastille v Corralles, Gatti v Ward, Ward v Emma null, Bradley v Provodnikov, Kahn v MAIDANA. Would any of these happened if they were in the UK? We ha e had some great fights in the UK, but far too often we are having the same premature Stoppage discussion

This isn’t true, there isn’t a standing 8 count in pro boxing and a mandatory 8 count is only given if a fighter is dropped.

Unless the ref determines that the ropes held the fighter up.

Yeah but that wasn’t the case in this fight

Looked like he sat on the middle rope at one point. That’s what prompted him to stop it in the first place.

Felt premature watching it live but seeing the replays ive no issue. Whittakers behavior was pathetic and not for the first time.

Would Clarke or Whittaker have been stopped if the roles were reversed in their fights?

Most believe it was stopped too early and the Poll that's up & running now will show this.

Picking up on the verdict about how good Whittaker actually is....he ain't especially good and I'd be inclined to get much more excited by anither prospect's performances....Georgio Visioli !

In comparison to Whittaker, Visioli is better skilled, stronger and much more exciting :box:

Weird one. Looked very early, but Cameron was clearly out of it when the ref took him back to his corner and didn't complain

It depends on whether you think the ropes held him up. It looked they were

I don’t think they did, his knees dipped for a split second where he appeared to sit and stand up again but the ropes didn’t stop him falling down.

They can only give a mandatory 8 count when a fighter is dropped, the only option the ref had was to let it continue or stop it.
I.lm going to watch again
But at one point he looked to be leaning on the ropes . Which could be took for being held up . BUT surmising I.m wrong brings me to another post I put up . WHY did.nt he take a knee. Don.t they discuss it practice it in the gym . You get caught
You get hurt don't matter who you are . Fighters pride don't want to.let them go down. But it should be discuss red d in the gym on when and how to use it to your advantage . ESPECIELLY if the plan is to follow him around with your hands up making him work . And punch himself out Which was obviously the case here

I don’t know if they teach it but I guess things go out the window sometimes even if they do teach it, we see plenty of fighters jump straight up when knocked down instead of taking a longer count and clearing their heads.
