Your posted article about Bert Gilroy killed his chances.

Collins, I have a few votes yet to cast.... gilroy is not an option, however I can be bought if you can find your way to the fella who folded under you personal favorite....A.P. empathy, sympathy, full respect...we'll take the vote under any banner.

Even given the fact that Jimbo has greatly exagerated Grandad Bert's accomplishment's and his true place in UK boxing, he still deserves to be in the Boxrec Hall of Fame ahead of some people who have been nominated in the past.

I urge you to consider casting a vote for Bert!

A.P. is not my personal favourite but he was a fine fighter who like many burned brightly for only a short time.

Actually, you and that other old clown are totally off base regading A.P.

Why is Bert not an option? Surely you aren't bothered about Alp's ridiculous new 'rules' are you?

You vote for Bert and I'll vote for A.C. (rather than the probably more worthy Fisting Frankie Howerd).

Deal?

Kindly add Aaron Pryor to my list, Alp.

Unlike our two resident muppet characters who mistakenly equate being old with being wise, I think Pryor was an excellent fighter albeit rather briefly.

Alex Arguello thinks so too. But, hey, what would he know about boxing compared to those two curmudgeons?

Could you find it in yer heart to give ol' Antonio C yer vote? As we found it in ours to give the Bat ours?

Thanks in advance for your consideration on this heartfelt matter of urgency.

Eusebio Pedroza has become something of a forgotten man of the 1980s. His fights are pretty hard to get hold of and now he's getting short-changed on the boxrec HOF.

Aaron Pryor before Eusebio Pedroza? Both 1980s title holders. Pedroza is the better of the two though.

...as Collins says....AP greatness was brief. Being "briefly great" is the entire problem and why he should wait his turn for others whos greatness was more enduring. (And less chemically enhanced and a product of clever if almost felonious management).

Collins has only heard of him via my and Jaclem's discussions, so he is certainly well informed, however his simply demonstrating his contraty nature with this particular bit of advocacy.

I think I referred to A.P. as a "fine" fighter and later as an "excellent" fighter.

I did not state he had achieved "greatness", did I? You are clutching at straws now Bobby if you are resorting to making stuff up.

I know you are old and I know you are not particularly good at debating, but it's now like shooting fish in a barrel.

It's no fun anymore Rob. At one time I had to be on my toes as you could sometimes get the odd blow in. But now it's like wrestling a sheepskin rug.

I thinks the same: Pedroza was better than Pryor

Hi Martin

I hope a few more would look at Pedroza. I definitely feel he's being overlooked. I don't know much about Carattoli so I guess I need to do my homework.

Collins, I can't vote for the Gill' though his iconic legendary fortunes blaze brightly in your gray matter........rules is rules. But you should know this, if I could I would, solely on your recommendation alone. Such is your influence on all matters regarding the history of pugilism, as least in my humble opinion.

However I am a generous man, and I offer you a remarkable opportunity! If you will withdraw your vote for Pryor, I will cease any further criticisms of you. Which you must admit, have profoundly crippled your credibility on the forum. (Even with those members who once held you in high regard and felt that you were once a person of honor and dueful diligence.) Think this one through carefully, as the right action on your part just might pay dividends with a return to heights for your currently descending reputation.

I of course, and as always, suggest such a thing, purely in your own best interest and with no regard for any sense of my personal selfish priorities.

Thank you in advance for your assured cooperation in this matter.

I'm sorry Rob, I must not have made my position clear.

I consider clowns like you, Jaclem and BRR as being only here for my personal enjoyment. Didn't Bazza make it clear when he got you the "job" that you would be treated like a joke and/or an irrelevence, just as he was?

I can honestly say, hand on heart, that you have added nothing to my knowledge of boxing despite the 1000's of posts you have made.

Hi, Ezzard! :D

Jose Carattoli, between others, KO'ed first Latin American Olympic Champion Victor Avendano (in 2 rds), Isidoro Gastanaga (TKO in 6, before Gastanaga beat world champion John Henry Lewis) and drew and outpointed Tommy Loughran... and a lot of other important rivals

Thanks!

That's because I have willfully refused to share the greatest historical boxing secrets with you..Why you ask? .because you can not be trusted with such information. E.G. the great Johnson, Dempsey fight, you handled that sensitive information with a clumsiness heretofore unknown on our little forum. I'm quite sure it's this sort of indiscretion that led Mr B to wander away from this zipcode.

I've been rattled by the "three quotes and your out" rule.

On the upside I'm watching Chad get the better of Antonio thus far here and can't be bothered with such trifles such as "sorting it out" or "getting it right". I prefer the "Shotgun" approach. Spread the buckshot wide and shallow and hope it strikes something pertinent along the way.

By the way, I might as well wind back to topic at hand. ..... I think this thread deserves more voters.

No pudenda interested in the Boxrec Hall of Fame Election (May 2009). I don't think there are enough voters to carry this on now. I'd like to see it wound up.

I'm watching a documentary on Peter Green; It's good to see he is almost back in touch with reality.
