Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
Catch-weight contest :
Amir Khan vs Breidis Prescott II
Surely a "no-brainer" :
1. Silence AK's critics . (or not depending on the outcome).
2. It is an exciting match-up of styles etc.
Mouthwatering prospect of a duel imo.

Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
I'm not sure he would fight a fighter coming of a loss like Lynes. Amir Khan against Colin Lynes
I'm not sure he's top 30 @ 140. I know he can do better than those two.[/quote]
If that was the case it just STINKS of conning the paying public. This is the only reason I dislike Khan because of the poor matchmaking.

former WBA champ M'baye, or even Colin Lynes who barely lost to M'baye at late notice. neither are punchers but both are decent workouts
I would put money on it being M'baye
I think Khan's people would like a Knockout victim for his next fight
(i know he has never been KO'd, i just reckon he's a bit sh it)
just a hunch
Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
Sorry, sorry...what I meant was I'd immediately put him back in with Prescott to right the wrongs. Then David Haye in a stellar British catchweight match.Autobarn wrote:ee by gum, this isn't boxing in't it. a sport followed by the weak and the wounded, the jilted and the jadedIan 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:I would do what Khan's team actually will do - the greatest reward for the least risk available. But when in doubt, take the least risk available over greatest reward. Until he's made everyone a few quid then take HUGE reward for a bit of risk.
I do occasionally get jaded but am certainly none of the other three.
I responded to the thread title. This is Khan we're talking about, not someone like David Haye. My reply was honest in his case simply because of the one flaw he has leaves him far more exposed than others.
Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
Just having a laugh. I am jaded unless he fights Maidana, the rightful mandatory, within the next year. A fighter than answers all the questions as Maidana hits like a mallet and - to balance things out - has some of the worst footwork seen at world level.
Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
It will be Salita or M'Baye.
Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
also given that mb'aye was a FW fighter, i think khan has sparred quite a lot with him, will know his style quite well. i always got the feeling that m'baye was being lined up for khan but obviously he wasn't good enough to hold onto the belt (D12 Kotelnik, L12 Rees) for long. a decent brisk workout, as m'baye is fast, can move, is a former WBA champ and apparently got robbed by that lumbering canadian/african whose name i forget.Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:Autobarn wrote:how about something moderate but credible

Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
How about the guy who beat Prescott as a first defence?
I'd probably go for Salita in New York

Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
Yep. I like Ngoudjo but he lost that fight.... just though.
Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
I think Hatton-Khan would be up there with the Benn/Eubank/Watson fights from the 90s in terms of it's impact on domestic boxing.
I really can see it happening if the Hattons will work with Wazza again.

Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
perhaps that vazquez guy will call out khan, his promoters saying "khan has to fight him because he beat prescott". and we end up with another dunne-munroegobbles wrote:How about the guy who beat Prescott as a first defence?

If you like watching paint dry that is,no seriously after all the hard demanding fights he's had lately i'd match him with someone who's been a great fighter in the past but is now over the hill,or someone who can't punch his way out of a wet paper bag or even that naughty man who hit him last september after all he's now on a losing streak isn't hekingfinn wrote:world ranked wrote:Just want to know if you were his manager who would you put Khan in
with next and why? My thoughy would be to face the Juan Diaz-Maliggnaggi
winner or Paulus Mosles, Dimirti Salita. thoughts?
Maliaggnaggi. hes not that powerfull but he has an attractive fighting style and he's famous. Would make for a stylish fight Khan would KO him.
Re: If you were Khan matchmaker

Cotto and Judah.
Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
Ricky Hatton would be my first choice. Khan's speed, reach and footwork will enable him to will clearly and somewhat easily.
If Hatton isn't interested or prices himself out, then Dmitriy Salita is the blindingly obvious choice. Salita is unbeaten and appears to have a decent following in New York. He's around the same height as Khan, not fast, not skilful and can't crack an egg. Some of the scorecards in his fights are ridiculous. He really is a crap fighter. I'm surprised he's still unbeaten. But his record would look good on Khan's, and Salita is a decent name to beat for America.

He sounds perfect for our new 'world champ' to pad his record with, and describes most of his previous opponentsAsterix wrote:Ricky Hatton would be my first choice. Khan's speed, reach and footwork will enable him to will clearly and somewhat easily.

Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
Oh yeah, and Salita is the number 1 challenger for the belt (Maidana is #2). It's perfect.

Why is Maidana the rightful mandatory? He lost to Kotelnik then gets put in a ridiculous "interim" fight because Golden Boy saw him as a soft touch for Ortiz. The fact that he won doesn't take away from the fact that he never should have been in the fight in the first place.
Salita has been No 1 since Kotelnik won the title.

Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
Bloody hell, that's ridiculous. Maidana wins the 'interim' WBA belt in his last fight but instead of therefore being next in line we end up with Salita as mandatory????terminator wrote:Salita is the madatory not Maidana as some people are suggesting

Firstly, from a simple point of logic how can a mandatory be above the interim holder.
Secondly, what the hell has Salita ever done to justify being in the top 10 never mind a mandatory shot. Maybe the thrilling points win over Raul Munoz was the deciding factor.
Guess they shopped long and hard to ensure Maidana doesn't get in the ring with Khan.
WBA.....amazing.
Re: If you were Khan matchmaker
looks like kahn will be busy defending this WBA title then. will the WBA make khan super champ and upgrade maidana to regular champ. and, IF SO, perhaps maidana would have to fight saliyta, and khan would be able to pick this or that opponent
