Post by world ranked »

Just want to know if you were his manager who would you put Khan in

Some great possibilities for Khan now. I would stay at LWW - I think he looked stronger at the weight.

Malignaggi would be a good fight - no punch, so Khan wont need to worry about his chin - plus he is very beatable.

Top choice though would be Hatton, huge money on offer and he could be an amazing scalp

Ricky should retire and I dont want to see him fight again but if I was Khans matchmaker I would try and make it happen.

I'd like to see him in with Malignaggi, would be a good fight and the build up would generate interest.
Would also be a good test of Khans speed and footwork when matched against an opponent with similar skills (albeit a lack of KO power).
However I think if this fight was made it would infuriate people who will insist Khan faces Maidana or Hatton next.
I don't really mind who he fights as long as Erik Morales is kept a long way off.

Hatton for the big money, boxing's a business and Hatton is beatable by Khan. That may even justify a Mayweather/Pacquaio fight if he beats Hatton for even more money.

I agree with this and think it would happen too. Theres too much money in it for it not too. Just imagine if it was in Manchester, they'd easily fill a football stadium. Give Khan a fight or two more though. Malignaggi is a good shout and perhaps the winner of Witter-Alexander. I agree Khan looked less fragile at Lightwelter, perhaps this is his weight. He took some solid shots from Andreas, who admittedly is no puncher, but he's not a powderpuff puncher either.

Witter is a dangerous fight of course, but at this stage and because of styles, I'd give hima great chance at beating Witter. In fact I'd make him a clear favourite.

I would do what Khan's team actually will do - the greatest reward for the least risk available. But when in doubt, take the least risk available over greatest reward. Until he's made everyone a few quid then take HUGE reward for a bit of risk.

I am not too sure khan would find malgnagi in the ring but stylistically I think its a boring fight..2 fighters with quick powerless flurries running away from each other all night. maidana would be a good fight but risk/reward ratio is low for Khan except for bragging rights and to shut people up (not enough motivation there in todays boxing world)..I reckon hatton still does him with a cracking overhand right at some point in the fight but that is big reward medium risk fight for Khan. Hatton will go to his body and cut down the ring better than kotelnik could, hold and hit for which I am sure Roach would have a plan but its risky risky where Amir's fragile chin is concerned.

So Hatton and Cotto couldn't get him out of there but Khan would? I disagree.

Isn't Maidana his mandatory after beating Ortiz? Or does Khan have the opportunity the make a voluntary? Would have assumed he would have to face Maidana next given that Kotelnik Khan was a voluntary........long since given up on trying to understand the WBA though, they'll probably find a Venezualan with the interim-junior-monkeyjump-alphabet belt that is more deserving.

Totally agree.

Why eliminate each other when they should be beating the rest of the world. I reckon Hatton would beat Amir, Unlike Kotelnik, Ricky is and always has been a hunter, he knows how to cut a ring off and if he's still got something left he'd be able to get to Khan. So i don't want to see Ricky snuff out British boxing's future.

Plus Hatton's massive and loyal fanbase would by and large turn against Khan should he manage to beat Hatton. Certainly it'd be considered and probably rightly so that Khan was picking on a depleted Hatton.

No good comes of the fight imo.

Khan should target the Malignaggi/Diaz winner, that'd make sense. Both well known, both decent but very beatable.

Hatton-Big name former Champ who would be a well regarded name on his record

Maidana-Enough skill to beat Maidana if he doesnt get silly and sticks to the gameplan

Would be the 2 I choose both are named fighters that I think he could beat

khan should box prescott again, he says he made a mistake in their fight so prove it then and dont make the same mistakes, i believe khan would beat prescott next time out. but it wont happen, he isnt worthy of having that belt. :oo

Agree with Big Mark

Its got to be MAIDANA....he's his Mandatory anyway plus making that Fight would be great PR for him and a Victory would hush the doubters even after Kotelnik.

Actually i think he'd easily beat Maidana....if you watch his Ortiz victory, he was getting easily beat when Ortiz was jabbing his head off and stuck to his boxing but Ortiz allowed himself to get into a tear up which i dont think Khan would do.

Also PRESCOTT as his 1st Defence would be great too....even after Prescott's defeat, it'd still be interesting and certainly give Khan a chance to Erase his one defeat.....again if he can get out of the 1st rd, he'd easily beat Prescott by late stoppage or a clear UD.

he not even a the only belt holder. Maidana is high risk low reward fight.

He get Ko'd again his career could be over before it starts

Hatton-Would maul him into submission IMO, Khan hasn't faced anyone of
that stature I saw take a couple of fights before Hatton.

I said the diaz/Maliggnaggi winner. Diaz wins a short, pudgy fighter with not alot of
power can be outboxed (JMM) outworked (Campbell) and will Khan a similar style
to get ready for Hatton.

Maligganggi brings name recognization with no punch and give you quality rds with
confidence because of no power.

Salita-He's tha mandatory for the belt and its bascially up to Khan people because
Salita not in the rush to enforce the mandatory to Maidana, but said he wanted
the Khan-Kotelnik again a come forward boxer with no power and will be a mix
of boxer/come forward fighter and when he's choosen the excuse he 'he was the
mandatory' can be used.

Rushing to fight Hatton or Witter, Maidana would be devasting right now

is it me? but i see Diaz as a more difficult fight than Hatton
It maybe more difficult but Hatton has the power and punch to make Khan
wilt Diaz just has the style.

Khan has told Talksport his dream fight is against Floyd Mayweather.
Nice ambition, can't see that happening for a while and thats if Floyd is still bothered about the sport but it would make money so I can see Floyd being interested.

Malignaggi, Hatton, Bradley, Mayweather?

Fight Hatton for a sh it load of money, if he loses, then he has lost to a guy who was considered top 5 pfp not long ago and if he wins he puts himself right in line to be the top dog in the post Mayweather/Pacman world of sum 147 pound fighters.

ee by gum, this isn't boxing in't it. a sport followed by the weak and the wounded, the jilted and the jaded

i'd like to see him in vs the guy that beat prescott on friday, get wicky at the right time for the big money, and if i had khan's best interests at heart i would put off the upcoming mandatory with maidana as long as possible

i would wait til he's a mature pro before any superfights, and would probably try and get big names up from lightweight or even super feather if there are any.

how about something moderate but credible

former WBA champ M'baye, or even Colin Lynes who barely lost to M'baye at late notice. neither are punchers but both are decent workouts

I'm not sure he would fight a fighter coming of a loss like Lynes. Amir Khan against Colin Lynes
I'm not sure he's top 30 @ 140. I know he can do better than those two.
