agreed, i think people saying Cook will hit too hard and have too much for Burns, are underestimating Ricky's slickness and skills a little bit. Cook can box a bit, brawl a bit, punch a bit, but i don't have him down as a Choi T/ Jackson Asiku type who can just walk through the likes of Burns.

Did you watch Burns last fight? i gave it a draw! burns looked very average! against a worse then average fighter!! burns may have won the fight but if so by 1 point not by the 6 or 7 that the scottish judges gave it! he looked good against gomez but gomez was shot. Nicky cook will easily outpoint burns if he fights like he did in his last fight. I two like ricky burns but the way he says that cook and mitchell have been ducking him for years is outrageous mitchell would knock him out inside 5. Good luck to burns tho i am a fan but not sure he is good enough to beat cook

THAT IS A BLATENT LIE MITCHELL AND BURNS HAS NEVER RAN THROUGH FRANK WARRENS MIND..MITCHELL KNEW HE WAS GETTING THIS WBO TITLE SHOT6 MONTHS AGO SO THERE WAS NEVER ANY PURSE BIDS!!!!! IF K MITCHELL BEATS MARTINEZ WHICH I THINK HE WILL..THEN BURNS BEATS COOK WHICH I THINK HE WONT! THEN THEY WILL FIGHT BUT MITCHELL WILL KNOCK HIM OUT IN 5 I THINK..IS IT JUST ME THAT THINKS BURNS IS AVERAGE JUST LOOK AT HIS LAST FIGHT AGAINST A COMPLETE BUM..I THOUGHT IT WAS A DRAW!!

im sure cook would beat him up and stop him comfortably. burns is ok boxing at a distance hes comfortable fighting in, but shits it on the inside (even vs the beyond shot gomez he was VERY jittery up close). basically, hes a runner with good if slightly amatuer fundamentals, not a massive dig on him so wont be abe to hold cook off.

Talk is that former WBO super-featherweight champion Nicky Cook squares up to tall Scot Ricky Burns later in the year, in a good-looking domestic scrap, possibly for the Commonwealth strap held by Burns.
Cook looks to get back on track after hot Puerto Rican puncher Roman "Rocky" Martinez snatched his WBO title on a stunning four-round stoppage in Manchester back in March. “Cookie” had the unbeaten Martinez – the mandatory challenger - in trouble in the opening rounds but walked on to a stunning left uppercut in the fourth and, two knockdowns later, it was all over. The Dagenham man had won the title wih an upset decision over Alex Arthur a few months earlier.
It is back to the drawing board, then, for the lean, body punching Nicky, who will be 30 by the time of the mooted October fight, after a long, long spell at featherweight (and a successful one). Oh yes, he has been round the block a few times, whereas Burns is four years younger, four inches taller and on a winning run of 12 since a good learning defeat at the hands of Leeds puncher Carl “Ingemar” Johanneson in Leeds in February 2007 for the British super-featherweight title (on points) and he came back to wrest his Commonwealth super-featherweight title with a smart decision over Ghana’s rugged Osumanu Akaba, a title he has defended thrice, one a seven-round stoppage of the perenially dangerous Michael Gomez.
However, Burns has lost to that man Arthur in another good learning fight back in February 2006 in Edinburgh (also on points), which comparitively of course, gives Cook an obvious edge.
Nicky is a sharper puncher than Burns, although Burns undoubtedly jars with his shots, and Cook’s jab sets off a nice variety of shots, up and down. He looks more complete than the undoubtedly talented Burns but boxing is all about timing an an upset is not completely out of the question.

So with rumours of the Mitchell World Title fight being November/December when would this Cook v Burns fight be?

Cook will win by wide UD because Burns is very overrated and Cook is a much better fighter than him.
