Despite the pathetic opponent, this is actually a good matchup. It's so quick after the McDermott bout. I expect, if there is a Big John rematch, that Tyson will have another gimme match after this one, and then take McDermott.
your having a laugh aint u???
id rather him not fight

If one has a fighter who's just had a punishing distance fight against the toughest opponent he's faced thus far, and is getting back into the ring only a couple of weeks later, with the hope of building support in Ireland and parlaying some of his Romany heritage there, then I think we can all agree this is a very good opponent.
Tyson can stay busy, get exposure to a new market, and gets a more forgiving opponent against whom to try out some of the things he learned in the McDermott fight.

It was a record payday for an English Title fight.. This next fight for Fury will be over in the 1s or 2nd round I'd put serious money on that..
McDermott deserves a lot as he's been truly $h1t on here!! Very sad.. :(

Fury comes with the hype and that clearly gets up some people's noses, but he's only had a couple more fights than, say, Tom Dallas and Larry Olubamiwo, and this is exactly the sort of opponent Maloney would happily match either of them against. Infact, it would be an improvement on both of their last opponents.
I wonder if Dallas or Olubamiwo would even be matched with Marcel Zeller, who Fury dealt with in his 2nd pro fight :??

Sportsnetwork ??? An employee I mean ? You seem to be going out of your way to pour cold water over Hennessy's heavyweight prospect.

leforge asked a simple question. You could just say "yes" or "no". Your response above makes me think you do work for Hennessy.

I just think Fury is being hyped too much!

Yes Asterix, I could of, but it's the second time I've been asked, so getting a bit tedious. There are some very paranoid minds on here.
Fury probably is hyped too much, but you can make a decision to cut through the hype and judge him in line with his competitors and I'll still maintain he's doing well.

Exactly, it's a very smart move. I'm amazed he's fighting so soon after a hard 10 rounder like that, but if he is, it's going to be a safe workout type opponent, anything else would be crazy.
It's obvious the idea is to put him out there in front of a huge Irish audience, who may never have heard of him, let alone seen him - heavyweights sell, and a eye catching win and entertaining interview is all going to help his career.
The main event is terrific, so you can get away with a marking time fight like this on the undercard.

If you just say don't work for Hennessy then no-one will need to ask again. I can't see any reason for you avoiding the question other than you not wanting to lie or admit you work for Hennessy.

Oh well. At least Tyson Fury has found his level now.
