Rau'shee got some pop when he wants to but I take it he likes to play it safe. But you have point Warren should have stopped a few of the fighters @ NGG
Re: 2010 U.S Championship - Teams / Favorites
I don't see why you would think Warren should have stopped a few of them. Remember a lot of Warrens stoppages were RSCO ... Warren would outpoint his opponents by more than 20 plenty of times and so the fight was stopped. Golden Gloves does not institute that rule so even if he was up by more than 20 the fight would continue. Also, a lot of his matches were 4 - 2 minute rounds and a few were 3 - 3 minutes, the first 3 fights of the Golden Gloves were 3 - 2 minute rounds, so really not enough time to fully break an opponent that far down to the point the opponent gets stopped. And once he made it to the semis, he fought Davilla (who gave Byrd 2 good fights) and Russle's little brother, who were both quality fighters. He won both clearly by the way.

Like Dennis said there weren't a lot of stoppages. Really don't see it much at lower weights either, but it's not about stopping it's about scoring and winning. Some boxers do just that box and tremaine is definitely one of them. Pretty new to the open class but you can't count out a boxer with his level of success at junior ranks. I also agree big difference in strength between 17 year old and 24 year olds, but speed and skill can make the difference too. Remember that Raushee was once the 17 year old trying to make the Olympics in the shark tank of older open class boxers. This is why I love this sport.champion wrote:tremaine is definitly fast and skilled enough trmaine seemed quick but no power at national pal but on other hand raushee coulnt stop one of them kids at ngg

Yes there is alot to Am. Boxing at this level. It will be great to see the results and see the list of Champions in July. I guess its true KO's are not common in many fights in Am. Boxing in these major tournaments. Takes special fighter to get several stoppage in Tournament of the level such and the U.S. Championships. Can you imagine a fighter winning all his fights @ the U.S. Championships by K.O.
Re: 2010 U.S Championship - Teams / Favorites
The RSCO rule has been eliminated by USA Boxing and AIBA so no tournament can institute the rule.teasy24 wrote:I don't see why you would think Warren should have stopped a few of them. Yes Dennis you are right. I don't know your opinion on that, but I like that the rule is gone personally.Dennis wrote:The RSCO rule has been eliminated by USA Boxing and AIBA so no tournament can institute the rule.teasy24 wrote:I don't see why you would think Warren should have stopped a few of them. Never like 20 point rule myself.
I feel ref is there and the fighters coaches are there to know if their fighter has had to much. Seen many matches stopped by that rule and the fighter that won the fight was more hurt by blows from the other fighter if fight could have gone on.

Re: 2010 U.S Championship - Teams / Favorites
I believe it's possible. Almost seen it in the Chicago Golden Gloves, but Pena started holding on in the second round of the championships and survived. But the kid's first 2 fights were stoppages in the 1st and 2nd rds. I know that's not the U.S. Championships, but the kid has that kind of power.coachingGOLD wrote:Yes there is alot to Am. I believe that Rincon could not compete at his LBC due to conflicting tournaments.

Anybody see any winners? Personally, Temple, Young, and Thompson I believe will all place at Nationals. They all have a great shot at winning the whole thing, but I don't know if they will.
