bennie wrote:It is a case of the young and the old at Upton Park on May 15 when Brixton’s Danny Williams defends his British heavyweight title against Finchley bad boy Derek Chisora.
Williams, 36, a ‘shot’ fighter by his own admission, makes his first appearance since he was shockingly outscored over three rounds by Sheffield’s blubbery Carl Baker in Prizefighter last autumn, after which he should really have been stripped of his British title by the Board, a title he first won back in 2000. The champion – the first reigning British champion to enter Prizefighter - was down twice in the first round against Baker, who goes by the nickname of “Fridge”, and did well to make it to the final bell.
In contrast the 26-year-old Chisora, unbeaten in 12 pro outings, crushed Baker in two rounds in February to earn this shot, after kissing Baker full on the lips at the weigh-in, and raised several more eyebrows when he nuzzled on Paul Butlin’s ear in a winning eight-rounder last May, which earned him a four-month ban. He holds a more legitimate win over reigning Commonwealth heavyweight champion Sam Sexton, whom he stopped in six impressive rounds in 2008.
Williams has seen it all before, of course, with knockouts over ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson and Kali Meehan on his resume, but he turned pro back in 1995 and looks one of those ‘old’ fighters, although a knockout punch is always the last thing to go. On this note, his recent “I’m shot” declaration could be regarded as a ploy to draw Chisora into a dust-up which would give Danny - always slow on his feet and who once scaled 20st 8lbs for a fight - a better chance of landing one of his big bombs; otherwise, it is hard to see anything but a win for the elusive, clever, sharp-hitting Chisora, here.

Good preview Bennie, but I hope Danny knocks him out. Danny is such a nice bloke and I cant stand Chisora.

I think the ear biting might also have something to do with it. ;;-)

Should be an intresting fight, for all his bullsh!t Chisora is a decent fighter and Williams is over the hill but I do think he has a big fight left in him. However I see Chisora battling to a late stoppage with it close on the cards.

Chisora will win. Poor Danny will get KOd. I dont even think it will be a competative fight. Danny should have retired. I dont want to see him beaten badly.

What makes you think that?

I thought Danny would push himself for one last hurrah and getting back with Mcdonnell was a great move to get himself in shape. Put some decent money on the win at 3's on betfair to read today in boxing news that he has split with his trainer again. He says its because jim was making him get up early but you can only take it as jim has told him he is not in good enough shape to fight and he is going to anyway.

Think i might try and lay out of the bet!
