All respect to Del Boy.
He is willing to toe the line - something Haye wasn't prepared to do when his bluff was called..

It's not them its everyone else. It's up to the next Ali, Lewis or Tyson to appear. You can't blame the K bros for staying active & clearing out a division of undeserving challengers. That's what they're supposed to do.
They're not bad for boxing? Come on mate, it's all about the money with them, not the prestige.
They must be the luckiest men on the planet.
They wouldn't have been in the top five 15-20 years ago...
I agree someone needs to take the title from them, but the odds are stacked against anyone who goes up against them, as much out of the ring as in it...

valuev is a joke, mormeck was shot and macerinelli has always been mediocre....
Hindsight is great isn't it? There wasn't too many people who said any of those things prior to the fights.
Agreed mate..
What a fornicating bullshit post.. Enzo was a champ as well, Haye was challenger to Mormeck and fought him overseas and 50% of people on here had Haye losing to Valuev pre-fight

The talent pool in the heavyweight division has always been exceptionally low, once you travel outside the top 10, I think either man would have been in the top 20 at any time maybe even including the 1970's. They may be clumsy, but they are extremely effective.

Macca was top 5 in the division at the time, as was valuev, as was Mormeck. Mormeck wasn't shot, he was definitely on the slide, but far from shot.

It's the division i'm sick of, they're lining their pockets whilst they make the best of the situation they are in. Other than sign to fight Haye or Povetkin (which one or both of them have already done of course) what would you have them do other than fight 3 times of the year knocking off their crappy mandatories and whoever else comes along?
I not a fan but it's the division that sucks imo, not the champions.

Their CVs will look very good, agreed, but easily the best opponent on Vitali's CV is Lewis, and he lost that one.
Big names, but very few of them came and gave it 100% against the Klits. Those who did were vastly inferior but at least they were brave. Williams, for example.
Lewis took on all comers at a time when they were at or around their peak - Tua, Rahman, Grant, Briggs etc etc
Fast forward 5-10 years and they're all still getting world title shots or in the mix. Frightening.
It's fair to say the division has never been in a worse state, I just hope Haye vs one of them happens at some point..

Most people in the UK backed Haye, that is correct. The general opinion at the time was that Haye was probably just about favourite but was in no way as much of a favourite as the bookies had him. When they stood face to face (or face to pec), posters began questioning whether Haye would have it in him to do it.
Enzo was a world title holder, however you dismiss his achievements. allegedly tried for years to get Haye in the ring and finally went for it when he believed Haye to be weight drained, a ploy Haye and Booth claim to have put on to entice them into the bout. At the time Warren said he would retire if Enzo lost, he must have been reasonably confident.
And no one suggested Mormeck would be easy. Mormeck was the champion, Mormeck had the crowd, Mormeck put Haye down in the fight.
Should Haye fight and beat one of K2, I'll look forward to you slamming their credentials too.
Oh yes, also to commend you on your superb application of sarcasm in your post, it was brilliant, it really was.

Fact is, they are not responsible for the state of the division.
People were saying the same thing back in Marciano and Louis' day, this is nothing new.
The Heavyweight division has almost always been pretty dire, the real exception being the late 1960's-1970's which stands out and the 90's.

So besides the 60s, 70s and 90s it's been dire, I'll go with that James :)
I appreciate the division is a shocker, we all know that, but when in the past has there been such cynical feasting on piss poor talent?
Maybe Tyson and King to a point, but otherwise...?

WBO, rubbish, isn't it? How Marco Antonio Barrera got his respect when holding that belt is beyond me. Actually, it isn't -- it was because he is a very good fighter. Enzo, whilst not as good, was respected in the division at that time and many people went for him to win, then promptly said 'I told you so' when he lost.
When I first joined Boxrec I thought that 'revisionism' was the art of preparing for your GCSEs. Blimey, how wrong can one man be.
f*ck the WBO belt! not worth the leather its attached to. hold WBOllocks in the same regards as IBO- b or c level belt.....WBC and WBA belts are the only ones with real history....

its this bullshit that is fookin up heavyweight boxing.
Actually, heavyweight boxing is fooked up because most of the top heavyweights are fat slobs and miles below the Klitschkos in terms of ability. Most of the fights that have fell through in the HW division are not because someone has to fight Vitali if they win, it is because there are financial details the camps can't agree on. These disagreements are common in every division, and Haye has had his part in them as well.
Even with these contracts that you think are fookin up HW boxing, the Klitschkos still manage to regularly fight top 15 opponents, and in the case of Wlad top five opponents. So you see, they aren't hurting HW boxing as much as you think. It wasn't even the contract that made Povetkin pull out, it was his trainers worries about his chance of winning.
