So no one knows when and where the boxing press conference is, only the iphone application one
???
I love how Audley Harrison's opponents - and particularly Rogan - are often referred to by their day jobs, as if that makes them lesser boxers. Probably 90% of boxers have second jobs, as it's only the top level who earn enough from boxing to make a living from that alone.hitman_hatton1 wrote:is david haye having a fight.Glyn Leach wrote:An observation: Funny how there's a thread about this press conference both nothing about the David Haye one tomorrow. Do you think anything can be read into that?![]()
last time i looked he was fighting a trialhorse who can't beat irish cab drivers.
It's an RSVP chinny, not open to the publicchinny wrote:Nothing about the Wlad conference on FW website. Any one know where and when, and if open to the public?
Wasn't Chisora an ABA champion?MightyWarrior wrote:

DERECK CHISORA insists he can beat world heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko with a little help from some boxing greats.
Del Boy takes on IBF and WBO title-holder Klitschko in Mannheim, Germany on December 11 as one of the biggest underdogs of all time.
The London-based star has been given the chance against Klitschko, despite having just 14 professional fights, no amateur pedigree to shout about and no European experience.

To be fair Manchester is a lot easier for people to get to than Mannehiem!jessi wrote:think you guys read to much into what threads are on here, haye harrison sold out in days and the thread asking if anyones going to watch del boy in germany gets about 12 replys !
i wonder what odds we will get for chisora and harrison to both win ?

The Sun having no boxing pedigree to shout about is more accurate.
Very pleased for you mate. What about "Sun boxing expert" Pat Sheehan?Jesus wrote:i actually enjoy allegedly and colin harts columnsJamesH wrote:Carlos-Wigan wrote: Wasn't Chisora an ABA champion?

They must mean on the International stage. Their point is that Chisora isn't proven outside of the UK.Carlos-Wigan wrote:Wasn't Chisora an ABA champion?MightyWarrior wrote:

No you are not going to look in a newspaper for that, neither did I suggest you should. What I would say is that if you are the newspaper a readership of millions, then your 'boxing expert' should have half a clue about boxing, which is not the case.Jesus wrote:come on if you want a good detailed boxing analyst your not going to look in a newspaper are you?
remember the sun comparing haye to ali after his win over valuev?

last time i looked he was fighting a trialhorse who can't beat irish cab drivers.
When Audley was on the way up and all the tabloids were sniping at him (typically in articles written by football reporters), they always trotted out the line about the opponent's second job - "butcher" Mark Krence, "doorman" Mark Krence, etc, as if they were just members of the public he'd hauled into the ring to fight. But then put Rogan and Krence in with Skelton and the day jobs become part of the "human interest" angle to the fight, and part of the opponent's "character".
You can apply the same methodology to the majority of any fighter's record, given that, as I said, most boxers earn a living elsewhere. Hell, even some high-level boxers do. You can bet if Rendall Munroe pulls off the upset this weekend, him being a binman will be used as a positive aspect to the story (and rightly so), rather than as a criticism against Nishioka. Back to Rogan, him being a taxi driver WAS used as a positive angle in his case when he beat Harrison - but, of course, at the same time it has remained a stick to beat Audley with.
I can see it now. Harrison beats "Versace model" David Haye...
