Wasn't he under contract though for PPV? And it was his first come back after Prescott, I think.
And a world title wasn't at stake.

Khan was locked into a 5 fight PPV deal for Fagan, running Prescott, Fagan, Barrera, Kotelnik, Salita. Or rather Warren/Sky were. This will be on PPV though, part of the reason Haye couldn't fight on this date. Doesn't bother me either way, I'll head up to Manchester.

Khan vs Fagan did come with the De La Hoya vs Pacquiao fight, aswell as Audley vs Rogan, Juama Lopez's defence of the WBO 122 lb title against Sergio Medina and Ortiz vs Jeffrey Resto and Danny Jacobs vs Victor Lares.
Yes the UK side of things was poor, and due to the way the American fights turned out so was that. But it didn't look too bad a ppv overall when it was announced.

McColskey has never overly impressed me but he would be a hard nights work for Khan, how many southpaws has he faced? Paul can bang, he can box, fast (but couldn't match Amir for speed), decent footwork, so far good chin, good stamina. So overall a tough night for Khan but one he should prevail in.

I think Khan would win, but Paul will put up a hell of a fight IMO......
Peterson or Mc, I'm going to this one, haven't been to a show since the bambino arrived in the summer.

If Mccloskey gets into a brawl, like the Lauri fight, Khan will murder him. If Dudley can keep it a range and use his slick boxing skills he has a chance. Khan has to be favourite though. McCloskey has been a long while looking for the Khan fight. If it doesn't happen now it never will, with Khan due to fight the Alexander/Bradley winner in the autumn and then he moves up to WW.

I like this fight more than the Peterson one. McCloskey has put the hard graft in over the past couple of years and improved himself while getting into the position to fight Khan.
Being a southpaw also makes it interesting. Khan will rightly be favourite but i can see McCloskey being around 6/1 which would be a silly price.
I'll head up if the undercard is good and tickets are reasonably priced

Having a quick look at Khan's record 3, Stefy Bull, Ryan Barrett and David Bailey. Don't think anyone else on there was a southpaw(what was Jackson Williams ?), but no one above English title level really. With that said though Amir has had sparring with as good a southpaw as there is so I'm not sure he'll struggle with the stance.

McCloskey should not be taking this fight, it's too soon for him. What ahppened to the Italian boxer that he wasgoing to fight for the European title (not Lauri the other one, Zamora I think he's called).
Maybe 2011, McvColskey could have 3 European titles defences... Zamora, then Lauri, then Chebah...
By then, Kahn will have moved up in weight and it opens up the divisions for Paul.

Not a tough fight for Khan at all--Mc is too limited and doesn't have Maidana like power. Khan will outclass McCloskey. I think he would have done the same to Peterson.

I can see the momentum growing domestically for this fight, but given Khan's handlers are US based I'm still not convinced it'll happen, I see it more as bluster to get a negotiating angle on the americans. We'll see, kind of hope it comes off for McCloskey even if I'd be loathe to pay for it!!

I agree.
Even if he doesnt get the fight his profile has doubled this week.
If he gets the fight and loses his profile will have increased many times more - and the loss will be against a fighter that is at least in the top three in the division. Not to mention a career high pay day!
If he wins - well, the sky is the limit.
Its a win/win for McCloskey in my opinion.

Mccloskey is a talented guy but i think this will be a step too far,Paul likes to fight with his hands low and thats asking for trouble against khan with the speed he possesses,he's gotten away with it so far as he has good reflexes but he's been fighting guys with average hand speed.That being said i prefer it to peterson as i dont think much of the guy to be honest!He got pretty much outclassed against bradley and he got lucky in getting a draw against ortiz.

This does seem to be a regular occurrence with the Khan camp.

This is the boxer that I meant and it's the right fight for Paul.
