You don't think Referees ever try to help one fighter more than the other in boxing matches then?
Apart from Roger Tillerman - no I don't
If you think that was a con job last night then you've been watching CSI too much.

I believe it would if Khan had displayed the same 'wanting out' body language that McCloskey did

You don't think most referees would be more subtle than Tillerman? If you truly believe that Tillerman is the only referee that has ever tried to help a fighter win a fight then you are deluded.

I don't know whether the doctor and referee were trying to help Khan out, or if they just made an awful decision. Either way it is bad.

Look up the word 'troll' and it's got a picture of Fasteddie next to it. I reckon Khan did his missus or something?!

who would really pay to see this re-match?? i like khan but was opeto an upset, there was and will be no upset ever happening here. Paul concentrated on being so hard to hit that he forget to throw back!! If that was the gameplan he was always gonna lose a decision and have a nice phat headache in the morning

Exactly. Lets see Mccloskey win a few fights of note now, then maybe talk of a rematch.

They also felt that due to Khan being tight at the weight, this was all part of their plan? Well, Khan was blowing at the end of the 5th wheras Mcloskey (who was making Khan miss) looked fresh. Khan was having to throw bunches of punches to land 1 and who knows what might have happened as Khan slowed and Mcloskey got that straight left working? I never saw any panic in the Mcloskey corner and but for the clash of heads, the fight could of got interesting in the later rounds.
Anybody else see it this way?
im with you on this rocky,he was throwing 6 punches to land one but still winning the rounds, people dont see mccloskey had a plan to throw very little but with bid affect, the punches he was throwing was the straight right and right uppercut and i believe eventually later in the fight they would of landed and khan would of had legs like a baby giraffe
Glad Im not alone in my thinking

I was thinking this could have been a possible outcome as well, that Khan could have gassed and McCloskey could have him in trouble later on. I didnt think Khan hurt McCloskey at all, and the ending was a farce. However Khan did win all 6 rounds, likley ending would have been lopsided points win for Khan. I do think McCloskey can win a world belt

A rematch wouldn't be worthwhile for Khan. Despite losing the fight in extremely controversial circumstances I think Dudey has come out of this with a lot. He has gotten exposure Stateside who seemed to be impressed with his "poor mans" Martinez style. He has a massive support and could easily tap into the Irish-American fanbase like Andy Lee and John Duddy did if he wanted to cross the pond. He needs to get back in the ring soon to keep active and not dwell on the loss, he is nearly 32 at the end of the day. There are fights there for him - Olusegan, Kotelnik in Europe (possible eliminators) or skip Stateside and I'm sure he could get a few fights as he is now a yardstick for potential Khan opponents. I seen people mention Judah as a possible opponent but stylistically he would be a nightmare for McCloskey.

This fight was a disaster from the moment it was made, so why would anyone want to make a rematch (on the Khan side anyway).
Fights get stopped on cuts all the time, whether it's the right decision or not, and every fighter knows that it's a possibility every time they get in the ring. Shit happens. Life's not fair. Stop crying and move on.
Best thing McCloskey can do is build his own career up at world level - if he's that good - and make it impossible for Khan to avoid a re-match.

You don't think fighters should protest when a fight is stopped unfairly?

Immediately after the fight, yes of course. Make it clear for everyone to see that you were able to carry on. That speaks for itself then. But I just know that we're going to be hearing about this for weeks on end. What's the point in carrying on about it at the post-fight press conference? The doctor's not going to change his mind. And if you've lost every single round so far, your argument carries even less weight.
Though having said that, there's not much point in Khan saying "I'd have knocked him out anyway" either. I don't think anyone comes out of that press conference (or this whole fight) smelling of roses. Class is lacking all round.

Khan was saying McCloskey quit, so McCloskey had to mention it at the post-fight press conference.
What else is he meant to talk about at the press conference anyway? The early stoppage was the main talking point.
