You're alright with me, I'm a little familiar with you because I read the eastside board, you're one of the few people who argues that Witter will/would beat Hatton, so I know you at least have some sense
I'm at a loss...
alright well we'll just drop it, if we disagree then we disagree, You caught me in a tetchy mood, I didn't sleep last night.

I went with Danny in fights 1 & 2.
Now I think Sprott will win on points or late stoppage.
I like Danny and I would like him to win, but I cant see it.
Fact is, for his last 3 or 4 fights at least Danny has looked awful. Looks like he wants no more of the game. Looks like he has no (and i mean no) confidence in himself. Physically he may be 100%, but mentally he's about 1%.
This is far worse than being out of shape.
IMO Danny cant win this fight.
When fighters get the way he is (mentally) they should retire.
I hope I'm wrong, but I think Danny will unravel in front of our eyes.

This really is split down the middle. One expert going for Williams; the next for Sprott. Fascinating reading.
I go to bed thinking Williams will win it, and wake up convinced it will be Sprott! Jesus, what have I just said!

Danny wins this one easily.
Sprott will have watched himself on tape almost getting his head knocked off last time out and will not be able to relax during the fight.
It doesn't matter that he had his hands down when Williams dropped him, infact that will add to his problems. He will spend so much time concentrating on protecting his chin and tensing up that he'll not throw any meaningful shots of his own.
Sprott will be like the proverbial rabbit in the headlights, which will surprise some because he's had a lot of belief in himself of late.
I expect Danny to stop him within 3 or 4 rounds.
Don't forget Danny has seen the effect his punches have when they land flush on Sprott's chin, he'll not have his normal self doubt issues in this fight.

It has to be said, this is an excellent show. I remarked at the remarkable number of excellent shows there were in late November and early December (Hatton-Tackie, Ottke-Reid, the King's Hall bill, Scott Harrison-Medina, and the Don King extravaganza), but look at January and February! As well as Williams-Sprott, we've got Clinton Woods-Glencoffe Johnson II, Nicky Cook against Cyril Thomas for the European featherweight title, Esham Pickering also going for the European title next week, Matt Skelton-Julius Francis, etc.knockout artist wrote:Any of you guys going to the fight?

Regrettably, no, Knockout Artist. Will be going to Bradford for the Pickering show, however.knockout artist wrote:Are you going?bennie wrote:It has to be said, this is an excellent show. I'm gonna go out on a limb and pick Sprott on points. As someone else mentioned, Sprott gave Danny a chance to hit him with a HUGE left hook that Williams totally loaded up on. Before that, he wasn't getting hit by much at all. I don't think Williams will actually be able to catch Sprott with a big shot like that again. Sprott will be focused and sure as hell won't be turning away with his guard down again.
Sprott, with a few scares along the way.

I really suprised some of you lot are giving Sprott a chance here. He's been knocked out twice by Williams and here is, going straight back in for more. He's got excuses for both defeats, but that's not gonna help him when Williams hits him on the chin again..
Williams will catch up with him by the mid rounds, I'd put money on it 8)

What do you reckon MW, cover 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 for a Williams stoppage win (depending on the odds)?MightyWarrior wrote:Williams will catch up with him by the mid rounds, I'd put money on it 8)
This talk of Sprott having a realistic chance could turn out to be a good thing for punters, there might be some good prices on offer. Although surely the bookies will realise that to get knocked out by someone twice and then beat them in a third encounter is highly unlikely.
Infact for the historians: Can anyone find an occasion when a fighter has lost by stoppage to the same opponent twice and then beaten him in a third fight? You'll struggle, surely.

I was wondering that too Jimmy - helluva comeback if they did. Plenty of fighters have come back from a ko defeat to win the rematch ( Louis, Graziano, Norris, Lewis ) but I can't off hand think of revenge after two knockouts.FlawedGenius wrote:What do you reckon MW, cover 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 for a Williams stoppage win (depending on the odds)?MightyWarrior wrote:Williams will catch up with him by the mid rounds, I'd put money on it 8)

Probably in the old days, when they fought each other ten times.
Mid rounds knockout sounds a good bet, if the odds are good. 5-8 maybe? Sprott is likely to be careful in the early going you'd think..
I think he might be too careful, and his lack of offensive action will allow Danny to catch him even sooner than we might suspect. I know that sounds a bit like an oxymoron, what I mean is; Danny will be able to let a lot of shots go early because nothings coming back, and whilst Sprotty will catch the majority on his gloves and arms one will get through, stun him, and allow Danny to finish him with a barrage.
People may wonder why I'm so sure Sprott will hold back. Unless a boxer is amazingly strong mentally or the total opposite (a basket case) it is almost impossible to get knocked unconcious by someone and not let it have a major psychological affect on you. As I said earlier, Sprott now knows that if Williams tags him flush its bed time.

Looking at Williams' last few fights: the Keith Long distance fight, the Sam disaster, the Mirovic scare (Danny was shaken in the third), the disappointing Sprott match; I wonder if we are looking at a man on the way out. I always say you can never judge a fighter on one bad night. But if he has three or four bad nights on the spin, it's a classic sign of deterioration.
I agree with that in theory and you could be right, personally though I think Danny has a 3 or 4 big nights left inside him.bennie wrote:Looking at Williams' last few fights: the Keith Long distance fight, the Sam disaster, the Mirovic scare (Danny was shaken in the third), the disappointing Sprott match; I wonder if we are looking at a man on the way out. BTW Is Keith Long going to actually be there on fight night this time bennie?
He tends to cry off a few days before fights, Jimmy, so there's still time. I hope the Board are keeping close tabs on him this time. If he pulls out again, then he and Herbie Hide should be suspended.FlawedGenius wrote:Is Keith Long going to actually be there on fight night this time bennie?bennie wrote:Looking at Williams' last few fights: the Keith Long distance fight, the Sam disaster, the Mirovic scare (Danny was shaken in the third), the disappointing Sprott match; I wonder if we are looking at a man on the way out.
