Calzaghe only ever fought at super middleweight and light heavyweight, so we have to assume the fight is at that weight. I see Calzaghe winning by a close decision.

Light-Middleweight do you mean, at the start of your thread?
Yes, thanks :TU:

I can imagine this being like Leonard-Hearns I.

Joe not quite as good as Ray but his bigger size making up for it.

Tommy could KO Joe at any moment and would be vulnerable late on, especially over 15. But I think he's get the decision.

Calzaghe, whilst being a very good boxer, has never had the best defence and was always vulnerable to a straight right. Even at 168 this would be bad news against Hearns.

x2. Case in point, Hearns-DeWitt. It went the 12 round distance. Hearns stated after the fight it was DeWitt's altheticism that enabled him to go the distance,Calzaghe would too but he's also a better all around boxer than DeWitt so i give the nod to Joe by Relatively close but clear cut UD. Yeah,He'd probably visit the canvas early along the way but JC had great recuperrative abilities. Look at Hearns-Roldan also. Hearns rocked him all over the place,a relatively stationary target in Roldan, but took awhile to put em away for keeps and once again, thats a stationary target boxer, decent chin yeah,JC's got a decent chin as well, better recupperative powers and much better boxing abilities. Finally,also,Hearns-Benitez,and Hearns-Shields fights need to be checked out and analyzed before thinking Hearns can just plow through anyone.

On a side note,I always thought there should have been a Hearns-Hagler II showdown. Hearns had very underrated boxing abilities himself and had a good chance to be able to outbox Hagler, just like he would've won a 12 rd UD against Leonard. A shame Hearns busted that equalizer right hand in the opening round against Hagler, all the more example of his vulnerabilities/flaws though.
