Enzo might officially be the British champion, but I consider McPhilbin to be the true British champion.
but would u dismiss his entire career and call him a turd cause of 1 controversial moment? Regardless of that fight (and people forget that he went on to win everything after the 3rd and get a few knockdowns of his own), hes had a good run.

I wouldn't call him a turd, but I wouldn't mention his British title win as much of an accomplishment due to the way he won it.

Harsh horse,

It wasn't Enzo's fault what happened, he got up and the ref deemed him fit to consider. The only thing we can know for sure about the fight is Enzo won practically every round after the third. He survived the Bruce Scott KD in which he was in a far worst state.

Harsh not too consider champ based on a woulda coulda - the only thing we know is Enzo did recover after only a 30 second rest break remember to win the fight fairly and comfortably in the end. Hard to consider McPhilpin the champ based on him losing a lop sided decision also.

If you want to be fussy about it, then why consider McPhilpin champion at all, everybody except three judges thought Norton beat Williams - so why don't you consider Norton still champion. For me, that is equally as controvesial as the Enzo fight.... infact more so, cause there was no woulda coulda situation - Norton won and got robbed.

Yes, Enzo is one of the most honest and decent boxers about. He is not what he was but who among us is? He is still good enough to compete, his punch resitance is depleted but he has guile, experience and power. He provides entertainment and does his best every bout. I can appreciate that Gary Lockett will not teach Enzo many new techniques but he can improve aspects of Enzos game.

That's regular boxing dodginess. Ending a round 45 seconds early (stopping a likely knockout) is a whole new level of unfairness.

Why - at least Shane did have a chance in round 2-12 to land again, Norton didn't have the chance.... he won, and he won by a CLEAR margin but he couldn't exactly go after the decision was announced - "can I have another 5 rounds to try and KO Williams".

There was nothing Norton could do there..... Shane could have righted the wrong in round 2. Yes, Shane had a opportunity not given to him and its uncalled for..... he did get a second chance though to land again..... Norton TOOK the opportunity (clearly) and official robbed him and didn't give him a second chance.

There have been two very bad calls in British Cruiserweight title fights in the 6 months and the situation is a farce. Norton should be given another British title shot before the end of the year.

I think what happened to McPhilbin was worse because it was even more farcical than the typical very bad judging that we are used to, but both were awful and both helped to lower the reputation of British officiating.

Not really. Enzo seems like a decent bloke but he needs to retire. He's been hurt bady several times. I think it's more disrespectful to want him to keep fighting.

Gary Lockett is going to be a top coach, he knows the game inside out and speaks very well about the sport.
Imo he will easily be Wales's and one of the UK's best coaches for many years to come, although id love to undrerstand what Gavin Rees is saying to me half the time! lol only kidding wee man
