I can't see it, i want to see it but can't see Froch winning this, he's really slowed up the last couple of years, he has never been lighting quick at world level, but he really seems to have slowed.
Bute to take it for me, just the fresher man and under-rated, Andrade nearly got him but I think that he's improved a lot, still got a lot of weak opponents on his resume though so you never know. I think Carl of 3 years agow ould beat Bute quite comfortable, I just think maybe Carl's best days are behind him.

Sad but great post

Its rediculous to think Bute is going to dominate Froch in the way Calzaghe dominated Lacy. Bute may win big, perhaps by stunning KO, or a wide UD, but he is not going to perform a 12 round shut out. Get a grip!

He's really slowed down, his shots look laboured sometimes, I expect Bute to beat him to the punch often.
I'd like Carl to really try and cut down the ring and get close up to Bute and wing a few in.
You don't see Bute on the ropes much

Could work in his favour. He's came through a crisis albeit very controversially. Plus he put it to bed in the rematch and gave Andrade a hiding.

To answer the question in the thread title, for once Froch needs to find his range and not be drawn into a close up slugfest which I feel Bute will attempt to draw him into. Froch needs to box and use his feet instead of simply planting them and wanting to draw Bute into a battle.
If Froch was to use his skills rather than his warrior spirit I can see him possibly winning a very close fight. If he is drawn into a close quarters battle then he loses widely on points.

true the experience could help Bute or it could just show that he he can be done over.
Andrade looks finished was he on the slde in the rematch?

Isn't the problem with those tactics for Carl to find his range he'll be within Bute's range first and he's likely to get tagged more coming in?
Does Froch have the power to hurt Bute?

I loved the Sky Behind the ropes with Froch.... he looked sharp in sparring. Looks like they are focusing on getting him as quick as possible.
I don't think Froch has slowed as such, just his opponents have got quicker as he has stepped up in class. No one was saying how slow he looked when he beat up Arthur Abraham.

you mean Abraham possibly the slowest fighter in the division?

.
i think Bute's foot movement is much better than Froch's, so this idea Froch can use his feet seems a bit odd to me. i think he loses eaily at range and has to push teh pace of the fight to prosper.

I know, what I mean is Froch has never been fast but I don't think he has "slowed up". I don't think he is shot, faded or off his peak at all. Just when up against the likes of Taylor, Dirrell, Ward and even Kessler his lack of speed was always going to be a factor.
But cause he got beaten to the punch time and time again against Ward people now think he has got even slower. I feel the Froch who fought Magee many years ago would have still been beaten to the punch as badly as the 2011 version.

i know mate sorry, was being slightly facetious.
I think Froch will end up looking slow at times tomorrow night, though.

That's my feeling also, I think Froch will have to dig deeper than he ever has before to get the win. It might be shades of Hatton vs Tszyu here and Froch might need to break Bute's heart and stamina to eek out a come from behind win. I just cannot see it happening, Bute's own power might worry Froch more than we think also.
Whatever happens I just hope the decision is a fair one and not like Froch vs Dirrell. I'll be rooting for Froch to do it, could be some great British fights for world titles then. I do want know controvesy though.

Kessler beat Froch up to the body. Carl even said something along those lines to McCracken in the corner between rounds.
I think Carl can win, but it's going to take a Herculean effort & he's going to have to have the fire & workrate he showed vs. Pascal & simply grind the bastard down. Bute looks such a big unit that the weight-making's got to get to him eventually, no?
Yes, remember that. I was listening to it on the radio.
I am a huge Froch fan. I do worry.
He’s at that stage where punch resistance can just vanish overnight (like Honeyghan). And he’ll need it.
I can imagine him having a little bit of early success but then Bute will time him onto those body punches over and over. Eventually Carl will go at him and Bute hits very cleanly.
That’s my guess. And Froch might get stopped.
But there is a scenario where Froch never lets Bute catch his breath, set his feet, have the time to measure Froch. And Froch, despite a few hairy moments, wins a close decision.
Bute would probably prefer a slower paced fight where he can set his feet and pick his shots. If Carl can make it a fast pace he can do it.
It all depends on what Carl has left. I think he can win. With the crowd behind him he should get given the close rounds.

Thats the thing since he's been competing at the top level apart from Taylor he's not looked like scoring a stoppage. Maybe Bute just gassed in the first andrade fight can't see it happening here.

Even if Froch is showing signs of wear & tear as alot of experts are claiming...
Infront of his home town his old determination will be fully restored ..if only for this one fight.
No way will Carl let himself get discouraged - not until the last second of the last round has played out will Froch be trying to please his screaming fans.
Bute is the one who needs to make an early big impression in this fight.
Froch will be giving no less than 100%.

Here's an interesting one: for people who read into Bute's power compared to Froch's, are there ANY stoppage victims of Bute that Froch wouldn't also have stopped?
Conversely, could Bute have stopped any of Dirrell, Abraham, Pascal, or the other guys who went 12? Doubt it.

Bute caned arguably a better version of Magee than froch took 11 rounds to stop, Bute brutalised his body and spanked him. FWIW.
anyway it isn't Bute's power, per se, so much as the fact that he delivers accurate power shots very quickly and with good disguise, = that left uppercut sinking into an untensed torso/unguarded chin. as opposed to Froch's shots which you can see coming from so far away you could have read about them in the 2011 Boxing Almanack.
i would also bet, again FWIW, that Froch would take neither Andrade or Miranda out as quickly and cleanly as Bute did.

That's a good point actually. I suppose the Andrade stoppage in the rematch was impressive, although perhaps less so given that in his last fight Andrade was stopped by some light heavy I've never heard of.

I think that Bute will be watching out for the straight right, but if Carl can land some solid left hooks, then he can really establish himself in this fight.
I think a come from behind late stoppage for Carl is on the cards.

I hope you're right. Two years ago I would have said the same, but not anymore. What a win it would be for Carl if he could somehow manage it though.

saying that, its not impossible to imagine a jeff lacy scenerio here.
Im not sure making it a scrap would be the best plan , Bute is a big strong lad and although ive not seen him have to be in a scrap yet i can imagine him being able to handle himself pretty well if needed .
a good shot early followed up with a nice quick combo along with the crowds backing may just make Bute wonder what hes let himself in for and make him doubt himself , if he does begin to let doubt creep in then Froch could capitalise and then yes it could end in a jeff lacy scenario then ....Maybe
Wasnt far off there was i
