Purdy is only the 6th or 7th best welterweight in Britain.

What the frig has that got to do with where Purdy is ranked?leforge wrote:Do you ever go to boxing shows?
1. Kell Brookleforge wrote:How is purdy 6 th best on current form?
2. Matthew Hatton
3. Junior Witter
4. Denton Vassell
5. Colin Lynes
6. Lee Purdy
Ricky Hatton could be added to the list above Purdy as well, but I won't because of his inactivity.
Purdy lost 10 or so rounds against Lynes less than a year ago, and he hasn't beaten anyone better than Lynes since. Why should he be ranked above him?
Vassell has not fought in the last 9 months, so he could be lower, but I still have him above Purdy on my list.

And I believe that Khan will be a welterweight in his next bout..

And if Gavin beats Witter then Purdy could be ranked 9th pretty soon.BobbyDobbs wrote:And I believe that Khan will be a welterweight in his next bout..

So brook is just "a good solid fighter too". - its not the moving up, its the jump in class, looks judging by carsons last fight and how high everyone on here rated brook, like a huge jump in class. A jones brook rematch would be seen as 50/50, wouldnt it? Brook gassed for a reason.JamesH wrote:Isn't that usually the risk when one steps up?Wales wrote:Which is fine unless purdy is too brave for his own good, is outworked, outclassed, and has a career damaging beating. I agree that the case you present isn't inconveivable, but Carson is a good solid fighter rather than world class. It's a challenge for Purdy, no doubt, but its not like he's fighting Mayweather. Surely fighters have to fight to learn their level?
Good fight, look forward to it. Probably whinging about something ive whinged doesnt happen enough in other posts!!
