Lee Purdy v Carson Jones
Lee Purdy v Carson Jones
On Twitter. This is a hard fight for Purdy, Carson is a tough cookie, should be a a real brawl while it lasts, I think Jones has the better chin and better quality, if Purdy was to come through this it would lift up his profile massively, I can't see it myself, but anything can happen in boxing and Purdy can punch.

This would have the potential to be a cracking fight. Purdys been written off a few times people thought Watson would have beaten him and he's still young at 25. Both guys are tough and both can punch a bit.

One thing for sure, you would want to see this fight, it will be all guns blazing from the off.ShadrachSimmo wrote:This would have the potential to be a cracking fight. Good style match. I've been looking forward to seeing jones again. This could be a real war.

This could be brutal. Good match.

Yep, I think this bout should be held in A&E.

The wonderful thing about this fight is that it WILL live up to the hype because neither is going to turn into Mayweather all of a sudden

wow. echo the above comments. strange but good-looking match.
Re: Lee Purdy v Carson Jones
Quality fight if it happens. After Purdy's last fight was it Adam Smith that said to Hearn wouldn't it be a cracking fight him v Jones, and Eddie basically said yeah me and the old man were saying that at ringside.
Re: Lee Purdy v Carson Jones
And what a statement if purdy stopped the tough american!! although personally I think it'd come too soon for purdy who could do with a couple more impressive wins before jumping into world level, which everyone surely agrees Jones is.
Re: Lee Purdy v Carson Jones
Glad to see Carson getting the call (if it happens). Really impressed me vs Brook, its a real shoot out fight.

Re: Lee Purdy v Carson Jones
Sometimes once a boxer has lost his chance at world level the training and desire goes, not sure that Jones fits that one though, as he has comeback before from losses.
Its an excellent fight though, Purdy seems to be stepping up to the mark fight by fight and looks better each time i've seen him.
Is this over 10 rounds?

If eh comes in with as much ambition as he did against brook, no reason to suggest not, i see nothign but a jones win.
Looking forward to it.

Re: Lee Purdy v Carson Jones
Good fight but Jones will outwork him imo , he proved his chin and stamina after he let Brook tee off on him for four rounds without folding to almost stopping him at the end.
Re: Lee Purdy v Carson Jones
This isn't going to be the main event is it?
Purdy is only the 6th or 7th best welterweight in Britain.

Re: Lee Purdy v Carson Jones
There have been quite a few occassions over past few years when british / european level fighters have jumped to world class to quick and been beaten handily. If purdy were fighting brook next how many would be picking him? Yet almost everyone had brook jones 7—5 .Horse wrote:This isn't going to be the main event is it?

Good luck to purdy, and fair doos for taking the fight
Re: Lee Purdy v Carson Jones
Don't give a monkeys where he sits domestically or where either are ranked, nor with whom. Styles make fights, this one looks good, end of.
Re: Lee Purdy v Carson Jones
Any odds out for thos yet?
Re: Lee Purdy v Carson Jones
Which is fine unless purdy is too brave for his own good, is outworked, outclassed, and has a career damaging beating. Not inconceivable.JamesH wrote:Don't give a monkeys where he sits domestically or where either are ranked, nor with whom. Styles make fights, this one looks good, end of.

A decent enough matchup but not the quality that Sky have promised from the deal with Matchroom as this fight looks to be the headline fight. I can understand it being on a bigger card but to me, it just shows how limited and stretched Matchroom is and will become with 20 dates to fill. Maybe we'll see an actual title fight as the main event yet, so forgive me if I'm jumping the gun. Still a decent matchup and one I'd expect Carson to take.

Couldn't care less wether it's a headline fight or undercard, it's still a good match. Bombs away!

Isn't that usually the risk when one steps up?Wales wrote:Which is fine unless purdy is too brave for his own good, is outworked, outclassed, and has a career damaging beating. I agree that the case you present isn't inconveivable, but Carson is a good solid fighter rather than world class. It's a challenge for Purdy, no doubt, but its not like he's fighting Mayweather. Surely fighters have to fight to learn their level?
