It's Senchenko for Ricky Hatton.
Re: It's Senchenko for Ricky Hatton.

Good timing, good opponent, but won't pay for it on Crimetime.

I'm not one to feel guilty in a bit of selfishness here when the ones running the show are all out for themselvesstujones wrote:Great for you - bad for the sport though. I reckon more punters will watch on Sky (even SBO) than Primetime who simply don't have the platform to advertise it. The Channel 5 link might help, but still it is very much a minority channel.freddydoesdallas wrote:

It is a good barometer to see where Ricky Hatton would stack up in the Welterweight division after 3 years out of the ring since getting run over Manny Pacquiao against a former World Champion who is looking to show he is still competitive at Welter following the loss of his title to Paulie Malingaggi, and it would also be interesting to see what Hatton does against Senchenko knowing that Malingaggi got a cuts stoppage over Senchenko.

as soon as the comeback was announced I assumed this was the mid/longterm plan. one more warmup fight after Senchenko, I'd guess. and yes, I think it would be.
Re: It's Senchenko for Ricky Hatton.
I was expecing John Bailey of Joe Hutchinson to be dug up for this one.... Can't actually believe Hatton is testing himself. The coke must have altered his thinking from his reigning WBU days which I still haven't forgiven him for.

Its on primetime,

Is this not a risky fight?

Re: It's Senchenko for Ricky Hatton.
i think this is a hell of a risk. i can see ricky getting stopped in embarrassing fashion.
Re: It's Senchenko for Ricky Hatton.
I think Khan vs Hatton is a few fights down the road - I think both fighters face a bit of redemption and need to be on a winning run before it is as big as it possibly could be. Is that possible though.
Lets not forget, Khan is on the run of back to back loses including a pretty bad TKO defeat. If somehow Ricky can beat Malinaggi and Khan beats a Randall Bailey - then it can achieve its potential.

Re: It's Senchenko for Ricky Hatton.
Has it been confirmed or is that just the buzz on the internet? I've checked Primetimes website, and Hatton Promotions site too but can't see anything about a TV deal. Surely if a broadcaster is in place already they would have been confirmed at the press conference?P4P#1 wrote:Its on primetime,

Very risky assignment this for Hatton, I would have been happy for him to pick a fairly easy return, this is definitely not that. If Hatton gets in there and is ring rusty and a bit chinny, then a live opponent like Senchenko will expose that and it could get embarassing.
Re: It's Senchenko for Ricky Hatton.
Just looked at the early odds for this, Senchenko a best priced 3/1 outright and 5/1 for the KO win. I think I'll be having a bit on those.

Attended the press conference today, spoke to few people and they were certain its gonna be on primetime, although after the conference they went over to the arena for photos and did a bit of a cheesy set up of ricky running up the steps to his band playing the rocky theme with the undercard boxers already at the top, and i think it was at the request of the sky crew who were there which is intresting. i may be wrong.chad wrote:Has it been confirmed or is that just the buzz on the internet? Do not rule out Skysports/
Box Office untill it has been confirmed who Ricky has gone with.
There is obviously a bidding war going on behind the scenes. I've always been told that Sky are desperate for the fight and according to alot of faces up here in Manc land they are the favourites.
There not silly they know ratings for this fight will go through the roof - I guess it comes down to who can offer the most ££ and long term options.
You've got to remember that they have Khan as well and it's obvious the long term plans is for Hatton - Khan next year. If Ricky does go for primetime he might just sell this show as a one off PPV to keep his options open.
I want it to be on sky as I want to enjoy the action on my armchair in the full glory of widescreen HD so I've got my fingers crossed.

I personally think he could be a really tough comeback fight, fitness is key as these type of fighters usually turn up to last the distance and take advantage of a tired fighter.
Really looking forward to the under card myself, not 100% sure what time I'm going to get into the arena as I'm at the Man United match in the day and I'd like to get a few pints in before entering.
Munroe vs Quigg is worth half the ticket fee itsself.

True but the fight is one of the biggest domestic fights out there at the moment so it is a brilliant second fight, I'd love Quigg to do a job on him this time as I feel the possible Frampton fight sells better with him involved.

Fark me that's a good comeback opponent for a lad who's been out three years.
Fair play.

Ricky is up for a proper fight. Hope his body can still do what he wants it to do.

Very high quality bout given the circumstances.
