He's certainly fun...but very limited. I imagine he'll be hell of a lot of fun to follow but not go much above fringe level.Old bones Ian wrote:One guy not getting mentioned much is Magomed Abdusalamov 14 wins 14 KO's just beat McCline in 2 rounds, but got decked in the 1st. Anyone rate him?

Yeah got to admit allegedly is doing it for me, its nice to see boxers from the past getting back on TV. Barry Jones is getting better as the co-commentator , not an easy job to get right. But Barry is doing good so far tonight.

Your line of thinking is laughable. I know all about Bruno's bum of the month club but within that there was Jumbo Cummings and Scott LeDoux and within two years of turning pro he was fighting Phil Brown, Bonecrusher in an eliminator and Lucien Rodriguez. Anyway, it's all absolutely irrelevant bringing up Bruno's opposition, Wilder has literally nothing in common with him. Why don't you make some tenuous comparisons to the record of Peter McNeeley or Butterbean or Brian Nielsen for all it's worth.keithmoonhangover wrote:Bullshit. After twenty fights, Bruno was still fighting Juan Antonio Figueroa. Frank's opponents coming up were a joke. If you don't know the stories, google the name Johnny Bos and come back when you know what you're talking about.loaded_gloves wrote:Deontay Wilder's record is indefensible - the stuff of Vaughn Bean and Malik Scott. I am unsure if keithmoonhangover realises that someone--& not the person he's having a handbags match with, neither--quietly & ruthlessly demolished his contention that Wilder had fought better fighters a page ago?
[sits back, opens popcorn]
EDIT: Just in case, I am in no way defending Frank's record. Just denigrating Deontay's.

You really are talking bollocks. Wilder was a top amatuer. McNeeley and Butterbean were not.loaded_gloves wrote:Your line of thinking is laughable. I saw it and remembered that Scott LeDoux was a worse fighter than Owen Beck.Datsue wrote:I am unsure if keithmoonhangover realises that someone--& not the person he's having a handbags match with, neither--quietly & ruthlessly demolished his contention that Wilder had fought better fighters a page ago?

Nah guv, not guilty, & I wasn't naming the dude (he was far more polite or maybe just sly than I am) & I'm glad Keith's seen it. S'a shame that he's still talking such utter shite, but there you go.dondada wrote:Was it you? For the record, Wilder fought the second-fattest dude on Boxrec. Keith mate:
Jumbo Cummings.
Also: Ledoux would still beat Beck, right now, this minute.

Thompson doing ok so far, bit of a rougher 3rd round. But looking fit and sharpe. That Culcay is a good boxer
Re: Allegedly channel - Povetkin - Rahmsn, Pulev - Ustinov
Thompson doing really well. Punches harder than his record suggests too. Remember mark having a bit of a 'homer' against that french chap, he could well ne on the end of one tonight?!?

Keith, mate, we're not talking about Owen Beck who fought Barrett & the Yeti. Last year he lost by count out, a one-punch knockout, to David Rodriguez. If that name doesn't ring a bell, may I suggest your own advice & a trip to the search engine of your choice? He then lost to a debutant.
Both of these were before he fought Wilder. He is Wilder's best opponent. Wilder has also fought the second-fattest bloke ever to step into a ring, according to Boxrec. Bruno fought a load of stiffs, but fornicate me man, think about it: DAMON REED is Wilder's second best win! Damon Reed. Wilder's last fight was against a former lightheavyweight who had one fight in the last five years.
I don't really know what else to say.
