Just found this. Not a good move at all for Walsh based on how awesome Ricky looked against Mitchell. I was ringside for Walsh v Kays. Think Walsh has some talent but this fight is way too early for him would have loved to seen him against Gary Buckland at Super Feather.

Nobody really expected 2 big & risky fights in a row for Burns did they?

To be fair to Frank, Walsh has just beaten 36 year old Domenico Urbano. What more do you want him to do to earn a world title shot?

No disrespect to Walsh but this is a marking time fight for Burns.

Marking time before what? There is no way that Warren puts Burns in with any of the dangermen of the division, as there is too much financial risk and very little reward for the self styled top promoter in Europe. I fully expect Burns v Mitchell II or even Burns v Murray as his first fight of 2013.

This match up is little short of scandalous - calling it a marking time fight or a filler simply distracts from the case that Warren appears to be unable or unwilling to put his fighters in bouts where he has more to lose than to gain.

I don't want to take anything away from Burns, as i believe he is a credit to the sport, but he operates in a talent rich division. Taking on the likes of Nicky Cook, Paulus Moses and Liam Walsh as "marking time" for fights against Mick Katsidis and Kevin Mitchell is simply deluding the public.

I think this fight is symptomatic of the problems that were inevitable when a leading promoter has his own TV channel. There is no quality control; so when the promoter offers up a match up between Burns (who looked massive at 135 against Mitchell and who has been operating at "World" level for 3 years) and Walsh (one fight in 15 months, a career super feather who was taken to the limit by Paul Appleby!), there is no-one who can say "hold on a minute, that really isn't the quality of fight we'd expect from a headline act".

Nonsense. Yusuf Mack may not be much of a challenger by comparison to Froch's recent opponents, but he is a credible world title challenger. He has fought for a world title and has fought and won a number of times against top 15-20 opponents. Liam Walsh has beaten Jon Kays.

I reckon John Simpson would KO Walsh never mind Burns. Its a crap fight.

Having said that it is unrealistic to expect a top quality opponent every time out.

That's what makes it worse, it's not as if Burns is coming off the back of a gruelling 12-round trench-warfare bloodbath type-fight. You might forgive him an easier opponent after that. But he barely broke a sweat vs Mitchell.

It was meant tongue in cheek, as I thought the Mitchell fight was a cracker.

I'll forgive Burns most things as he seems up to fight anyone, it's his promoter who peddles this garbage to the subsciption paying public for whom I save my ire.

I see this as a bit of a thank you to Walsh for standing by Warren in the build up to the Haye - Chisora mess. Would be nicely ironic if the BBBC stood by their original statement regarding that card and rescinded Walsh's licence preventing him from taking this fight!

The only saving grace about Burns v Walsh is that its not Burns v Harrison.

seems like a total n utter waste of time to me. hopefully no one will pay to watch this one . the only way to teach these scummy bastards to puttin on decent well matched contests . burns would be better off doing a cheeky quick move up to khans weight, ko him ,then move back down and have his fight wi broner.
