Personally I have no interest in Prizefighter, it's the sort of thing that's ok if you personally know one of the fighters but you very rarely see guys on there who you think have much of a future in there, I know Gavin Rees won it and Martin Rogan did well after it but generally this isn't the case.

I think Sky having one promoter is terrible, it's like Top Rank & Golden Boy have in America with HBO & Showtime but at least they have big stables.

I like allegedly, it's great to be able to see fights from Germany & America which we get often at the moment. However I wish we'd get more of the American broadcast sometimes Bunce & Lillis or the other guest are chatting for ages.

Primetime, it's just another channel, they very rarely have much on there so you dont get your money's worth and to be fair paying for SKY & allegedly is enough.

Channel 5 isn't bad, good for Hennessy he was in a mess after Froch left and Witter got old, seemed like they were depending on Fury an awful lot, now they have DeGale & Eubank Jr so they have a few guys now that they can push going forward.

Us "hardcore" boxing fans have never been happy with anything, if we were this forum would die. All in all allegedly is value for money at a tenner a month, channel 5 have tyson fury allowing the masses to watch boxing on "terrestrial" tv - but c'mon, how many people dont have sky? Anyone know the %? And hearn is putting on packed cards like froch bute, brook jones etc... albeit few and far between. We still moan. Back to 2000's with wbu titles every sat night and our top fighters against cack?

The 18 fights comment was more of a joke comment, but you show a lot of fights on boxrec and they do diminish come fight night, you are lagging behind on quality compared to other smaller promoters, it does not matter if it is under 6 fights or 7, surely not worthy of top of the bill, Prizefighter has nothing to do with it at all, they are 3 rounders, in which anyone can win and much more entertaining.[/quote]

We will have to agree to disagree. I could sit here and point out how wrong you are by going through the fights we have staged.but its pointless. You are entitled to your opinion but it is not shared by all and not by the people who matter i.e those who come and pay to go to our shows.

By the way we hold at venues 1200-2000. How many smaller promoters do a 2000 and sell it out. Dont reply just a final point and as I say you are entitled to your opinion.

DW Peter Parker comes across as a bit of a troll to me

I don't really get the criticism as its not justified anyway. I think a lot of promoters do a very good job on a limited budget including us. We have invested in getting our boxers exposure on free to air tv which is helping them attract sponsorship. We don't have the finances to stage big budget fights at present though we did do the Harrison comeback in May.

I thought we would be applauded as if what we are doing works hopefully in time other smaller promoters will be able to get free to air tv coverage.

The actual thread was about Eddie Hearn and the Matchroom monopoly. I pointed out I recognise that Matchroom IMO are the best promoters in the country and I believe as more boxers sign with them they will be able to increase the quality, competitiveness and depths of their cards.

Someone then put a post saying they would like 50/50 fights on small hall shows shown on tv (accepting the quality or ranked boxers wont be the same as Matchroom). I pointed out that we did that and then we received the criticism which had nothing to do with the theme of this post.

I am amazed in this sport and the amount of negativity shown by people within the sport. Many times it is someone with an ulterior motive (i.e linked to a particular boxer or promoter) who want to put down others and sometimes it is someone who just wants to criticise the sport.

I wont comment on this post again as I don't feel I need to justify what we are doing which is good for the sport in general.

Their replay of the Hopkins-Calzaghe fight I caught a while back was appalling though, I don't know why but it was barely watchable, Calzaghe-Kessler was quite bad too.

i recall calzaghe-hopkins being a shocking broadcast when it was live. the worst i've ever seen. was it to encourage us to buy the dvd?

He's brought his stable to a free to air channel knowing its costing him money to do so but is looking at the long term picture.
There's only so much money you can lose on shows and that goes for if you're paying for better fights or tv production etc.

The problem is also on paper, a kid with a 4-14 record might seem rubbish, but if you have seen him before you may well know that he would give your prospect a test and the fans an entertaining fight.

Some opponents i get for my prospects may look to have poor records, but i tend to go on if they come to fight. Of course you cant get it right every time and sometimes you get a dud or theres no one else around you you get the dreaded 'survivor' in.

Its very hard for all of us in the game right now, and the more boxers that are unwilling to take fights and be prepared to lose, the more problems we will have making competitive matches.

These days you have kids that don't sell particularly well, aren't stars in the making, but yet still won't fight unless they are in the 'home' corner.

The problem with a lot of boxing fans is they don't understand the logistics behind putting a show on, as well as the expectations boxers who are 3-0 with limited ability have, they want everything done for them when the promoter has little to gain in the long run.

People can go on about matching fighters and 99%-1% but until they are in the promoters shoes or are involved with people have to make the decisions, they will never understand.

To busy posting on forums to actually take a step back and take a look at the bigger picture
