Because he left boxing apparently. Someone convinced him to come back. I'm hazy on the details but I heard the story. He left the sport rather than being injured or anything like that.

Sometimes a boxer has just got to be saved from himself.
Nobody at the arena or watching on TV doubts Lebedev's testicular fortitude but that's why there's a referee and two doctors ringside. Their job is to make decisions purely on the welfare of the fighter irrespective of the fighter's and Chief Second's wishes.
The Chief Second Tsyu is a mug for not pulling the lad out but at least he has emotions to blame. The doctors and more importantly the Ref should be hauled ower the coals for letting a man keep getting repeatedly hit on that eye. Is one win worth the end of his career?

In Williams Harrison II, which we were talking about on here the other week, Williams dispensed with 2 doctors himself mid-inspection and went back to the fight and they didn't know what to do....You just need to be firm with these people
