Because in Russia they don't seem to give a fcuk. They seriously overlooked jones.

Some things are more important Keith. No point retaining the title if you can never fight again.keithmoonhangover wrote:

Re: Lebedevs Eye!!!
Because the Ref was terrible and should be suspended.
The doctor in the 11th allowed him to continue.

Re: Lebedevs Eye!!!
Yeah but that makes no difference you would be stopped winning with a bad cut, that looks like it could be seriously damaged permanently.keithmoonhangover wrote: Because he was winning the fight on all cards?

I'm not saying I agree with it, but I think that's why. Plus, he was still competitive.Finn wrote:Yeah but that makes no difference you would be stopped winning with a bad cut, that looks like it could be seriously damaged permanently.keithmoonhangover wrote: Because he was winning the fight on all cards?

Maybe the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in a ring.
Lebedev could have got seriously hurt there, and no-one gave a rats ass. It was all about keeping the meal ticket going.
On the flipside it was one of the greatest fights I have ever seen. I just think some things are more important

I thought he was 100% competitive until the last round.thepocketrocket wrote:Maybe the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in a ring.

Yes, he was. But my friend, injuries and decisions to stop the fight are not based on the scorecards, they are whether it is safe. And if you have one eye, then that is an unsafe environment

His corner and the ref showed no mercy and Lebedev fought on. I applaud his bravery it made for fantastic viewing.

Though Lebedev should never have been in that position, he was indeed incredibly brave.Final round wrote:His corner and the ref showed no mercy and Lebedev fought on. I applaud his bravery it made for fantastic viewing.
He was no Jose Gonzalez

There may be some kind of underlying factor. Or I may just be cynical.Final round wrote:His corner and the ref showed no mercy and Lebedev fought on. I applaud his bravery it made for fantastic viewing.
Why would you subject someone to that kind of unnecessary beating. The ref who i think was South African showed no compassion whatsoever for the injury. Both fighters showed outrageous heart and will to win. Great spectacle but at what cost?

Yeah its probably the worst swelling ive ever seen,i thought Lebedev was gonna tough it out to the end though,no shame in quitting then though,at what cost? if Lebedev was pulled out at least he would take comfort in the fact that it was out of hands but for the corner, ref, doctor or whoever to let Denis quit was scandellous,it will have shattered the mans confidence,i doubt he,ll ever be the same

Complete polar opposites! Lebedevs a seriously hard man, face/head swelling up more and more and still he fights on.thepocketrocket wrote:Though Lebedev should never have been in that position, he was indeed incredibly brave.Final round wrote:His corner and the ref showed no mercy and Lebedev fought on. Re: Lebedevs Eye!!!
The difference though between Lebedev and Gonzarlelez is that while Gonzarlez will most likely learn from the Burns defeat and come again Lebedev may well be finished after an injury like that. It reminds me of Margaritos injury where he had a broken orbital bone, so its highly likely there is a serious probably career ending or affecting injury there. I applaud his bravery but his corner were even braver unfortunately and may have ended their fighters career.... I just hope the eye is not half as bad as it looks...

I'd say the fact Lebedev hit Jones with the hardest shots he could muster to no effect will knock the stuffing out of Lebedevs career more than his swollen eye. Lebedev's stopping power was his ace in the hole.

He'll never be the same fighter, if he even returns to the ring.

I agree with those who say Lebedev should have been saved. Tony Tucker suffered a terrible eye swelling shipping Bruce Seldon's jab - he wound up blind in that eye.

Exactly. That is why the corner have to do what is right for the fighter
