If you wanted to slag off Henry (Hank) Lundy, then your showing yourself up somewhat - because Lundy had already beat Abril (who arguably beat Brandon Rios) and battered David Diaz into retirement and is a compact and skilled fighter.

Watch their fight from 12.00 onwards and tell me that he wont be entertaining !

Chump after chump is very insulting towards his opponent,if Gonzalez,Mitchell,Moses and Martinez are chump I'd like a gym full of them

It's a fair point but there's more stadium fillers over here (as per my earlier point) due to their mouth rather than skill (Fury, Haye etc). Mouth over belts...

Ok Chumps admittedly was unfair but still those guys you've listed arent the elite fighters in the division.... Gonzalez was outboxing Ricky Badly before gassing pretty much and hurting his wrist and well Mitchell hasnt shown himself to be above european level and was knocked out in 3 rounds by Katsidis who himself loses to the best guys and well Moses and Martinez were and in Martinez's case are paper champions. They never beat anyone of any real significance and I think most people would agree that Martinez is probably the weakest of the belt holders at super feather.

In all honesty my issue wasnt actually with Ricky. It was with Hearn! I think Ricky would fight those guys if the fights were made but Hearn wants to use him as a cash cow! Do you think that's unfair Billy? I know you wont talk out of turn about Eddie but I think what im saying is a valid point.

Yeah but Ricky is already a big name in Scotland and is already selling out arena's. His last fight was a sell out right? It looked pretty packed to me anyway. If that is the case anyway, then why does his profile need to be built up more before those big fights?

What are the big fights in touching distance??? Are we defining a big fight as rees/crolla or a gamboa/broner?

Because there a diffrence between 6,000 and a 20,000 outdoor arena and you'd need that kind of arena to cover costs for unification fights

Yeah but Vasquez isnt a big name fighter, nor is Abril. I doubt either of those guys are making big money at the moment! Fighting Ricky would be their biggest paydays im sure! Also you dont think that Ricky could sell out a big outdoor arena now if he was put in a big fight ie a unification fight or someone like Broner? Regarding needing a bigger arena to cover the costs, I can see how that would be the case in getting someone like Broner over who would demand huge money but i dont see that being the case with Vasquez or Abril.

not the fight I was hoping for, as I want to see him unify vs Vazquez. but it's not smart to go from the shaky showing vs gonzalez, to the most difficult boxer in the division, Vazquez.

if crolla beats rees i'd love to see crolla get his chance as I still feel he's a classy offensive fighter with potential.

Exactly! Thats hardly top opposition.

He's a good opponent, but a unification fight would be a lot better.

Why can't Burns unify with Abril or Vazquez?

Billy you turned down 2 offical offers for broner and the reason he moved up to 147 is because you made it quite clear you were never going to fight him. If you wanted broner it would be burns v broner this weekend which would have give you plenty of time to ger ready. At least we have someone like froch who actually goes out his way to fight the toughest possible fights that the fans actually want to see.

Spot on. Billy, I know its a business but you lot have ducked Broner twice and flat refused to give the last opponent a rematch after he came closing to beating Ricky. The title reign doesn't seem to be getting more glorious, it seems to be heading in the opposite direction. I know its a business but its a shame for the fans.....

Yes I would for the biggest fight of his career and the chance to beat the best in the division (at the time)
I get the impression that Ricky is always in shape and he's proven himself against a good run of opponents and he should have taken his shot while it was there even with the shorter preparation time than you would have liked.
How much better is Ricky going to get ? He almost lost against a VERY good but fairly unknown fighter. Better to have gone for gold against Broner than going in with these dangerous unknowns

Everyone said Gonzalez was going to be a shit fight and a walkover but was a really good fight.Looking at youtube I think the styles will gell and we will get another good fight.This is an okay defence and better then Larryea,Everson or Cook defences for sure and the guy is in most sites/governing bodies top 10 so this will do for now but Burns isn`t getting any younger and big unifactions should happen in the next 12 months
