I've got to say that I honestly don't think Joe Louis is the hardest puncher in the history of boxing. I'm not questioning his ability. I just think that some people hit harder than him.

It's not all about records, Stewart never knocked anyone out of note and neither did Valero. They both could punch, but not definite inclusions for a list like this, I wouldn't rate either. Baek was very strong, but I'd leave him off too.

Marquez and Morrison are solid inclusions.

Valero is a difficult call, It's hard to assess within that statistical anomaly he created. Maybe it would have kept chugging along....we'll never know. But he never was up against the sort of Solid chin that would give us a good reading.

Prince Naseem Hamed should be higher IMO; he was an absolute beast of a puncher.

I'd also like to know where Herbie Hide would rate.

Hide was also a phenomenal puncher for such a small heavyweight.

Norbert Ekassi,Alexander Gurov was a good punchers in cruiserweight.

I'd definitely rate him over Thiam.

I don't remember exactly what his KO percentage, but I know he's one of only two men to stop the great Emile Griffith, and he stopped him in the 1st round!

The only other man to stop Griffith was The Legendary Carlos Monzon.

Missing genuine one punch hitters like Carl Thompson and Herbie Hide. Bruno even! Nigel Benn was significantly less hard hitting as a super-middle, but a more rounded fighter.

Why would his KO% matter? For the record I think his was around 50%.

I think that it's very natural to have a Heavyweight at the top of this list. However this list doesn't just take in the punching power, but also the puching accuracy and combinations

If you add those three things Up:
The power + The Accuracy + the combos = Great Punching

If you're just looking at the pucnhign power then this list could look very different.
