I'm like you, I'm not that arsed, a fight with Chavez Jr interests me more because I'd like to see Froch wail away on the prick, but we're definitely in the minority.

Trying to ridicule him into a rematch was never going to work, Froch does have a big ego so why would he want to give Groves a massive payday.
Froch won't make millions on PPV though, it has to be the right opponent or fight to sell. He's had 2 PPV fights, Kessler, which sold well because of how good the first fight was and Groves, which was a massively hyped all British grudge match that was bound to sell. Realistically, Froch has 3-5 options for a big payday, Chavez Jr in the US, where he would be the B side of the promotion, a Groves rematch and a third Kessler fight, which would be down to Kessler fighting again and going straight into the fight. The other options are Ward, which wouldn't be a great payday because he isn't a draw here or in the US and the first fight was so one sided, or Degale, which is unlikely with Degale's current situation of poor performances and a defeat to Groves and would need serious hype to sell, plus Degale is looking towards a Bika fight. Froch fighting Bika is an option, but if it was in Vegas he would be stuck on someone else's undercard, meaning less money and fighting him at home wouldn't sell brilliantly.
Wrong, Froch will fight on PPV whoever he fights now. Chavez Jr, Ward, GGG are all marketable big fights in US and over here. They won't do the numbers a Groves fight would do over here but your also adding American PPV to the pot. He makes big bucks whoever he fights next
Neither Ward or Golovkin would be on PPV in the US and I'd be surprised if either were here, especially Ward. Golovkin still has unfinished business at middleweight, but I can't see Froch going for him anyway since he'd end his career flat on his back. Chavez Jr would do well in the US with the Hispanics, but I doubt it translates to a wider audience and Jr is a nobody here. The biggest fight money wise and from a legacy perspective for Froch is Groves. A rematch outdoors would be huge and a big payday for both fighters, whereas a Ward fight in the US would mean a >£1million purse for Froch.

Erm, actually youre completely wrong on that one... the majority of the boxing public could and would have something to say about Froch making such a statement and it would be along the lines of:
it was a premature stoppage that wasnt deserving and so a rematch is very much needed in determining the true winner.

If he wasn't sure he wanted the fight, Carl should just have said something along the lines of..."George fought a great fight and proved beyond any doubt that he belongs at world level, he can kick on from this now and look to get a shot at one of the other belt holders some time next year. After that, we'll do it again. It'll be one of the biggest nights in British boxing history. A super-middleweight unification fight between two Brits at home. The tide was turning when the ref stepped in tonight but for me, even though I got the win, I'm not fully satisfied, there's unfinished business, but let's make the rematch as big as it can be."

It's hard to hold immediate post-fight comments against a fighter but Carl wouldn't give George anything, I was actually shocked by what he had to say.
I wanted George to win but Carl
was turning the tide, we don't know what would have happened but I said on here during the fight that there is just this feeling that Groves needs to get him out of there to win. I'm quite disappointed in his attitude since the fight, of all people I expected him to want to put the record straight, he still might, an interim fight wouldn't hurt too much unless Carl was on the slide and lost.

Lets get this right. Froch doesnt want the fight. Carl looked like the elephant man after his fight with Groves, he head was in a right swollen state. Groves is a serious risk to Froch's health, hence why he is talking up a fight with a blown-up middleweight (Chavez jnr).
The rematch is probably the most lucrative option out there for Froch and even if Groves was to pick up a world title belt before any rematch, it would be unlikely to make a second fight any bigger.
Froch is currently trying hard to justify his desire to dodge a rematch with Groves. Such behaviour from Froch is very disappointing, despite his great ring achievements.

I've no interest in the Chavez fight, but blown up middleweight?

In 49 pro fights, Chavez jnr has fought only once (to my knowledge) above 160 lbs. And that one fight was coming off a long lay-off.

Was it Rubio he fought at 180/181 on fight night weight? Blown up middleweight he certainly isn't.

I would buy froch on ppv only if he fights George.... like aden said if froch was a little more humble and honest with their recent fight id have a lot more respect for karl... However the more he makes excuses the worse karl is sounding...

No offence Spud, but you need to stop lickin Frochs Ass.
Froch was boo'd silly after this bout against Groves and looked pathetic after he tried doing damage control when the booing was drowning out his words. He said it himself that a rematch was pretty much obvious since the fans wanted it (hence the boos).
Frochs talent has not brought him the popularity and money it should have and he wants to cash out. That's fair enough, but no need to talk shite. That go's for him and the few obnoxious fans he has

The fight will happen, it's pretty simple really, Froch is expected to lose to Ward so he takes that one first, (win lose or draw) he still makes millions from the groves rematch in his next fight ! IF he fights Groves first AND loses will Ward really want him ?
Froch WILL lose a lot of respect from the boxing world if he refuses a rematch with Groves !
Froch won't underestimate Groves again and won't take the fight unless his 100% fit and injury free !
Froch WILL take the rematch 100% in 2014, if he don't we all know why !
Who will be the bookies favorite 2nd time around ?

Currently he's an emaciated cruiserweight, moving up to super middleweight would ease a lot of the strain on his body, although he has relied on strength and simply outweighing opponents to get over the line in the past.

Controversial stoppages rarely get remembered historically anyway. Taylor vs Chavez was about as ridiculous as humanly possible. Where was the immediate rematch?

x2. Once he's retired, this is going to haunt him. It will be a blemish on his undeniable record of taking on all-comers win, lose or draw. You can imagine him spending decades repeating the same old excuses as to why he didn't face Groves again.
What surprises me about this situation is that the usual boxing political ploys aren't being used here - normally, if you don't want to face a guy, you say you do, and you hide behind impossible financial negotiations. Froch could easily be saying "lets give the public what they want, I'm ready and willing to face him in my next fight" yet make Groves an offer that he wouldn't accept on financial grounds. Knowledgeable fans see through this sort of thing but it at least affords the boxer a cover story, of sorts. In this instance, Carl is just flat out refusing to give him a rematch and the entire world knows why, and knows Carl's dodging Groves. And I say that as a massive fan and admirer of Froch.

Perhaps i could put it another way... Chavez jnr has no form nor a legitimate ranking as a super middleweight having fought 48 of 49 career bouts in the 160 lbs division or below.
IMO Chavez isnt deserving of a shot at a world title in the 12 stone division at this stage and is only being mentioned by Froch as his next opponent simply because he is a softer option, who carries his father's legendary name whilst ensuring a decent payday for Froch.

Degail gets bika before groves

The only Froch PPV that sells is Groves
He was beaten so badly by ward that no-one is going to pay to see that again.
I would bet that if Groves was on PPV next he would outsell Froch in the UK

I dont know why people actually think things like "this fight will haunt froch in retirement". It wont. If its not now it wont then. he'll be too busy spending his millions and bouncing Rachel off the walls. And fair play to him.
Does the Vitali fight keep Lennox up ant night? I doubt it. Does calzaghe wake up in a cold sweat thinking "hmmmm maybe I should have rematched robin reid"........ come to think of it, does groves ever think about owing a certain rematch himself. For a result he didn't really deserve.
