Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
Calling Groves a spoilt idiot and saying he doesn't want to give him a payday. Its nonsense we all know he had a nightmare with Groves and came perilously close to getting beaten.
What ever your take on the outcome of the fight you have to agree Froch would rather not repeat the experience.
He is single handedly losing more respect everytime he accuses Groves of showing him no respect. He is coming across as a spoilt idiot and a bit of a shitter .
Surely Groves if not deserving of a rematch is at least worthy of the champs respect.
Carl grow up and conduct yourself like a champion.
Instead of this flustered whiner spouting rubbish your better than that.

Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
There just has to be a rematch, because It was a terrible stoppage, for both of them.
I wouldn't be surprised if Carl didn't do it though, would you want to go back in with Groves after that?

He is more or less ruling it out and trying to blame Groves.
The only good outcome for Froch would be for Froch to win a rematch. Anything else he looks terrible.

I won't begrudge Carl getting a Chavez jr styled payday in his next fight, but he should just ignore the Groves issue if that is what he wishes to do. Keeping on about a rematch or lack of is merely keeping the public on his case.
GG will get a good fight next regardless, and will likely be a champion by end of next year.

for the life of me I can't see what Froch would stand to gain if he rematched Groves. Prove he's one of the toughest c*nts these shores have produced? - check. Couple of mil in the bank? - check.SNG wrote:There just has to be a rematch, because It was a terrible stoppage, for both of them.

He already has these things.
Now let's look at the flipside of that. He's guaranteed another good hiding off Groves, win or lose. He's risking his long-term health because his defence is - well, it's not Floyd is it.
Common sense would dictate this fella would have no good reason to get in with the younger man again, but I have a feeling he has some kind of weird.. addiction almost, to the hardest, battering fights.

Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
It's a shame that a guy with Froch's resume & series of fights over the last 5 years that is way better than any other fighter's would tarnish his reputation by not agreeing to a straight rematch with Groves.
It's not even for the sake of the fans & it's not about giving Groves a payday (which Geoorge thoroughly deserves anyway); it's for his own ends, as he must know that deep down, he was fortunate in that fight.
Surely he'd want to nail Groves once & for all & shut his & everybody else's mouth?

Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
Groves should aim at Bika. He could easily beat him and it would make for an all-British unification fight, which may even be enough to convince the unusually reluctant Froch to get in with him again. But I doubt Froch will do it; he wasn't scared of Groves before the 1st fight, but I think he is more than a bit afraid of Groves finishing what he started.

Long term, people won't look back and criticise him for lack of a rematch, especially if he steps in with good class in his next outing.

This, along with Groves’s belief he should get treated like a champion regarding purses and negotiations.

He more than paid his dues in the 1st fight to warrant a healthy stake of the spoils in a rematch.zero wrote:SNG wrote:There just has to be a rematch, because It was a terrible stoppage, for both of them.

Most people will watch to see if Groves can beat Froch.
Not if Carl can defeat Groves again.
Froch will muddy the water any way he can but he knows what he had to go through .
Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
I said from the day after Groves would talk himself out of the rematch. Froch has a couple of fights left in him and makes millions on PPV whoever he boxes. Trying to ridicule him into a rematch was never going to work, Froch does have a big ego so why would he want to give Groves a massive payday.
Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
I'm a big Froch fan but he is making a cock out of himself. He simply needs to gives Groves a rematch.

This will rumble on and on and on ...
My view is George Groves did bloody fantastic in that first fight, but, he had his chance and LOST!!! Whether the stoppage was premature or not, I thought Carl Froch stuck in there and would have won the fight legit if Howard Foster let it go for a few more seconds ...
In my view you saw the absolute best of George Groves in that fight and you will not see him fight that well again.
I have to be honest here, I also thought as good as Froch has been over the years he is perhaps now on the slide.
Awesome fight but after a fight like that it has in my view taken the very best out of both fighters.
A fight I think which would make big bucks for both fighters is Degale v Groves 2.

Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
Froch won't make millions on PPV though, it has to be the right opponent or fight to sell. He's had 2 PPV fights, Kessler, which sold well because of how good the first fight was and Groves, which was a massively hyped all British grudge match that was bound to sell. Realistically, Froch has 3-5 options for a big payday, Chavez Jr in the US, where he would be the B side of the promotion, a Groves rematch and a third Kessler fight, which would be down to Kessler fighting again and going straight into the fight. The other options are Ward, which wouldn't be a great payday because he isn't a draw here or in the US and the first fight was so one sided, or Degale, which is unlikely with Degale's current situation of poor performances and a defeat to Groves and would need serious hype to sell, plus Degale is looking towards a Bika fight. Froch fighting Bika is an option, but if it was in Vegas he would be stuck on someone else's undercard, meaning less money and fighting him at home wouldn't sell brilliantly.jackukmma wrote:I said from the day after Groves would talk himself out of the rematch. That only means the pool of fighters to choose from is much smaller. Anyone other than Groves will flop over here. Maybe he will fight Chavez or Ward and the Americans will fund most of his purse. Personally, I think it will be Groves. Matchroom will certainly be pushing for it.Spud wrote:Wrong!!!expe wrote:Froch won't make millions on PPV though, it has to be the right opponent or fight to sell.

Yep whilst I agree with you - it wont happen - especially if Groves does as rumoured by signing with an american promoter.mickey1975 wrote:That only means the pool of fighters to choose from is much smaller. I also wont be surprised if Sauerland make bid.
If Groves does sign with another promoter trust me Groves will not be fighting Froch.
Also I disagree with your view the PPV with any other than Groves will flop. The casual fans are not like us pal - we follow the sport where as the casual fan hasnt got a clue.

Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
Ultimately, it is up to Froch who he boxes next, but he is in a difficult position in terms of legacy ( not financially though).
He will make serious money whoever he boxes, and I can't begrudge him that. He puts his life on the line when he fights, again and again.
In terms of legacy, if he avoids Groves (which looks likely now) his legacy will be tarnished a little bit, I feel, because he has sold himself on being a fighter that will fight anyone, yet he clearly won't. Groves got top side of him, but Froch doesn't want a rematch. He wanted a Kessler rematch, and now won't afford Groves the same opportunity, which is quite interesting.
What concerns me a bit is that Froch is actually beginning to sound a bit delusional; he has convinced himself that he was dominating the fight (in reality he had the stuffing knocked out of him). He is also unable to give other people credit, but cries when it is not given to him arguing that you should never be rude to the champ etc, yet belittles Ward, who lets face it, is the true champ.
It will be interesting to see whether he rematches Ward again. I think Ward will stop him now. He will have seen how Groves handled him so easily for almost 9 rounds, and will probably be gagging to fight Froch again. Froch would be wise to give Ward a wise birth, but again, if he does this, he can no longer say 'I will fight anyone', hence his legacy is on the line.
It will also be interesting to see the reception he gets if he boxes in England again (outside of Nottingham). He left the ring to boos, and tried to win the crowd back by saying that he will give Groves a rematch, and if he turns up in and English ring without Groves in the corner, that could be an awkward reception for him.

Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
My preference is Froch vs Chavez Jr.
Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
Groves doesn't need the rematch, he has done enough to go down another world title path
Froch possibly needs the rematch more than him to get respect back
If I was Groves, I wouldn't chase it - let the fists do the talking, in the long run he will be a world champion

Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
As said froch is ppv.he don't need groves who hasn't really had to earn or fight his way to the top. Maybe froch will think wear my shoes for while Georgie boy & serve your apprenticeship & prove your a 12 rd fighter. Personally I think froch gave it the Barry mguigan saying he'd end groves & degales careers if he had to face them & now degale looks the stronger as groves couldn't bully him at all.
Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
Wrong, Froch will fight on PPV whoever he fights now. Chavez Jr, Ward, GGG are all marketable big fights in US and over here. They won't do the numbers a Groves fight would do over here but your also adding American PPV to the pot. He makes big bucks whoever he fights nextexpe wrote:Froch won't make millions on PPV though, it has to be the right opponent or fight to sell. Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
I don't know what all the fuss is about, the first fight went exactly as most predicted, George to be a handful in the early part of the fight and Carl to stop him in the later rounds. Anyone who thought George was going to see the end of the first fight are delusional. No matter your thoughts on the stoppage Carl would have stopped George. Rematch - why? Probably be much the same but not as entertaining as Carl would be more weary of George's power in the early rounds. Move on.
