Agree with every word. Froch has come up the hard way, winning the Lonsdale outright and fighting everyone in such a tough division to become 4 time world champion. The fact he has limited ability amplifies his achievements as he's done it mostly on heart and determination. He's tough as nails and makes me proud that he's British. Yet it seems the majority of fans now hate him  and for what? Are these people trying to say that all his achievements and all the great nights of boxing he's given to us by putting his neck on the line are forgotten because he says a few debatable things and comes across a little cocky at times!? When did everyone become so sensitive? He's not even that bad! I've seen plenty of interviews where he's come across as a down to earth decent bloke. Plus has everyone completely forgotten the Kessler 2 build up where everyone was praising both for their sportsmanship and rightly so. Boxing seems such a fickle world at the moment.
Apart from when he said he wanted to kill him and got in trouble with the board?

I knew someone would bring that up. Did they fall out? Did Kessler take it badly? No. This is exactly what I mean, you ignore my whole post full of positives regarding Froch and come up with a negative. :witzend:

Yep, the death remark and disciplinary action was definitely a negative. Sorry for focussing on it just because Kessler chose to be the bigger man and ignore it.

I'm pretty sure he didn't want to actually kill him though eh

I've said that loads of times in football, 'i'm gonna kill that pudendum!!' etc but i didn't really mean it. Figure of speech maybe?

i do agree kessler was absolute class through the whole build up though and still a man i admire

Exactly. Kessler is a class act no doubt about that. But apart from the one stupid thing, Froch was also class pre and post fight. He just seems to be the man people love to hate at the moment which is what I can't get my head around because of his CV and how tough he is. Just get the feeling that if he was Mexican, their whole nation would be behind him. But I may be wrong on that.

If you look through my posts, I've never liked him as a person. If he was a Mexican dickhead, I wouldn't like him either.

Yeah I gathered that pretty quickly! Missing my point again though. I was suggesting he'd be more popular over there if he was Mexican than over here as a Brit because we seem to be extremely sensitive and like to sit on our high horse picking fault whilst doing nothing worth while ourselves!

Yes, he's achieved more than me in life, I'll give him that.

This time last year, I'd tell you I liked both men.

As it stands, I still do. I think the level of Froch hate has been disproportionate to what actually happened. He wasn't at fault for the fight being stopped prematurely, that was down to the referee. And at least we're seeing a rematch to (hopefully) rectify the situation.

At the same time, both men seem to be getting a bit petulant in the build up, and were before the last fight. The George Groves before the DeGale fight came across as the more likeable of the two, but started acting the twat before the last fight. Okay, he's probably trying to get buy rates, but it's still annoying. Froch too seems to be intent on trying to look the hardman, which is entirely unneccessary considering he's ducked nobody his whole career.

At the moment I don't have a preference. Carl winning would annoy a lot of the people who are acting like the result in one fight makes him a useless boxer all of a sudden, but Groves winning would annoy DeGale. Which might actually be funnier.

Come back to me the week before the fight. The way they are both going on, I fully expect one of them will have annoyed me sufficiently to make me root for the other.

Froch's a bellend. He's always been a bellend. I was routing for Kessler in that fight on the basis that Kessler is a way nicer bloke.

Groves is a nicer bloke as well, but not as much as Kessler.

Add 'So who do I want to win?' And you could submit that as an IQ question.

Kessler's class and well spoken. He talks more calmly and fluently in English then Froch and Groves combined. Easier to make sense of

I really dont mind people hating him 'as a person' and all that bollocks, I just think its kind've ridiculous to get caught up in that shit when you are a boxing fan..... Froch is way down on the list of people to hate 'as a person' in our sport I would've thought, but he still seems to cop as much, if not more flack, from some, than the wife beaters, criminals, rapists, drug cheats and degenerate scumbags.

I have never taken to either on a personal level, but they are both proper exciting fighters, esp Froch, I'm just hoping for a great fight.

There a difference between football and boxing, your actually trying to inflict injury and pain in the ring on your opponent and death is
A possibility , numb nuts

I never mentioned hate. I dislike the guy, but I suppose there are a few worse than him in society, yes.

I've been supporting his opponents for nearly 10 years now, hopefully Groves finally knocks him out and shuts him up for good.

George Groves gets the rematch he deserves when he challenges world super-middleweight champion Carl Froch in a domestic 'natural' on May 31 at Wembley Stadium.
Froch inflicted the only blemish on Groves' 20-fight record in a controversial encounter in Manchester late last year. Froch went into it as a prodigious favourite but found himself on the floor quickly (and heavily), after which he struggled throughout with the fast, clever, confident Groves, who proved a revelation and was ahead on all the cards when he was taken out of the contest in round nine by the referee (following a brief attack from Froch).
The 'stoppage' raised several glaring questions that should be answered second time round: was Groves tiring when Froch, an established 12-round fighter, managed to get through? Was George really hurt? What effect did the early (first round) knockdown have on Froch's overall performance? Did Carl grossly underestimate Groves? Can Groves fight as brilliantly well again?
You know, when you take a cold look at Froch and his career, you wonder how much the gaunt Nottingham man has left at the age of 36 (all of 11 years older than the handsome Groves, who looks like he hasn't taken a shot in his life). After coming through a war with Canada's Jean Pascal in 2008, Froch went in with one hard man after another and it all seemed to give against Groves, who had shown when he outscored the previously unbeaten James DeGale in 2011 that he is not fazed by reputation, the big occasion, the tag of underdog. Groves' shock win over former Olympic champion DeGale is looking better and better, as is his display against Froch.
Make no mistake about it, the Londoner can handle himself in leading company and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him finish the job at Wembley that he half-finished in Manchester.

I would proffer the opinion that Kessler's wide-eyed, kindly & ingenuous nature probably had vast amounts to do with that. He's always struck me as the sort of bloke it would literally be impossible to pick a fight with outside the ring; you'd probably end up crying your eyes out with his arm around you whilst he listened with grave patience about how your dad's never really expressed his love for you.

I'm assuming that one gets a sort of contact high off the Dane's presence, & walks around for about a week afterward with little old ladies gazing wistfully after you in the street & making comments along the lines of "If only I were 40 years younger!", in the minutes when packs of savage dogs weren't whimpering at your presence then coming up to lick your hand, tails wagging.

It's my contention that he actually might be Jesus.
