At this late stage in the game, what can ANYONE, let alone Sims, do to change/improve Burns? He's tall for the weight, always very fit, brave, so I'd suggest no one can change his style. He can't get better sparring because he got quality up to Scotland before his big fights.

There were rumours that Ricky wasn't listening to Billy Nelson in the corner between rounds during his last few fights and also that his trainer was shouting nonsense at him. I've been told from those at ringside for the fights that this isn't true. Burns simply was unable to change the game plan.

Burns always said he'd box on until he's unable to compete, and maybe he just felt a change would be good at this stage. Fair enough, but there will be no improvement. It's impossible.

Poor wee guy! I post from an iPhone and I don't give a toss for grammar. I wonder how much of him has died due to poorly written posts?

After listening to Ricky's interview on T2T podcast I thought that this was kinda strange. He didn't seem to have any other reason to change coaches than for a "change of scenery". Doesn't seem that he's picked a coach based on what he can bring to him, other than a fresh start. Dunno, just came across like he was clutching at straws a bit. Saying that, good luck to him.

Didn't he get in for Geale?

Hasnt anyone thought that he has too much respect for Billy to speak out about the in's and out's of their relationship or camps together? Maybe he is just saying as little as possible to get through the questions and doesnt feel the need to talk down about Billy. He obviously believes that there was something missing!

Maybe he just had a lot of success and a great relationship with Billy and isn't trying to blame anyone else?

Thats kinda what I mean.
He has worked for so long with Billy that maybe he doesnt want to disrespect him by publicly saying what he thinks he can improve or benefit from elsewhere or maybe he even thinks that a camp away from the distractions of a young family will help him focus. It could be anything but to be honest its good to see that even although they have parted ways, there still appears to be a respect between everyone involved and no-ones name has been dragged through the mud like we have seen with many others in the past.

Ive said it from the start that burns would be going to simms! Obviously as soon as he signed for matchroom,the writing was on the wall for the burns and nelson rollercoaster!!rickys last 2 /3 performances hasnt helped either,and think it was just a matter of time before he moved to matchrooms seemingly main trainer!I personally dont think that change will benefit ricky whatsoever,and I dont think any coach will be able to alter rickys way of fighting,thus said,a move up a weight,and a good strength and conditioning coach like shane mcguigan,to try and get some explosive power into his shots,could of been the way forward,he still lacks snap in his punches! If you cant change the boxer,at least give him the power!!
