After everything he's done and everyone he's beaten, you're concerned that people will overrate Froch based on two wins against a lad who has achieved nothing? Interesting point of view.

No disrespect to Groves, but I feel his performance against Froch in the first fight somewhat flattered him. He's good, and has the potential to be a World Champion. But his experience at that level was always going to be a disadvantage.

When he knocked Froch down and was ahead on points, we saw his potential there to be a World Champion. But I felt going into the second fight that Froch was still favourite. I didn't think he'd underestimate Groves as much as he did in the first fight.

If I'm honest, before the first fight I thought it was going to be pretty one-sided, as Groves (good though he is), had never fought above British level. Groves proved me wrong, but it was always going to be tough to do that against a Froch who knew what to expect.

I've noticed this too.

I think DeGale has a lot of talent. But, at times, he just doesn't seem to want to use it. A lot of his fights on Channel 5, he was fighting journeymen that he could've blown away with his ability. Instead, he'd cuddle them a lot, get lazy in the middle rounds but end up doing enough for a points win. At one point he claimed to have injuries, and pre-Gonzales fight he said it was depression, and also that he didn't like fighting in shopping centres either.

His stoppage in the fourth against Gonzales was good, but he did a lot of clinching in the first round or two. Maybe now he's back on the big stage, we'll find out whether his previous reasons for not performing his best were valid, or if he was hiding behind excuses.

Degale for me, as he says, he would be all wrong for Froch, got a good chin as well, punches harder then Groves and has a better defense, he used the wrong tactics against Groves, took him for granted, as Carl did in the first fight.

I know. There are folk who must be new to Froch. Somehow.

Froch v Degale

I have just had a brief twitter chat/ argument with a certain member of the boxing fraternity who is saying Froch is 'more worm than Cobra' for avoiding Degale, also saying Froch has ducked him.

I for one think Froch would be too much for him, I just can't see Degale dealing with the aggressive approach of Froch and the constant barrage he would eventually get hit with. I think Froch will catch up with him eventually and if JD sits on the ropes like he has before he would be in for a world of pain in my view.....but that is just my opinion.

I know its been asked before somewhere but I honestly can't find it so I thought I'd throw it out there again as I am genuinely interested in the good people of boxrec's views on it...

So, Froch to win or Degale and why...... :box:

think Degale would have some joy early on with his movement and speed, but think Froch would start to put it on him from about 4th or 5th round and stop him some time after the 8th. Degale switches off and hasn't been in with anyone who brings the intense pressure that Froch does.

You have to be able to hit very hard to make Froch think twice about steam rolling you, Degale doesn't, or you have to have elite level nullifying and defensive skills like Ward, Degale doesn't.

I like Degale but can't see how he would win unless he found a level we've not seen before and Carl had an off night.

Degale far too lazy, not physical enough and easily backed up to the ropes where Carl would muller him to a stoppage

I think so,in the same way I feel Khan can trouble Mayweather with his speed,DeGale is the only other fighter in the SMW division thats as fast as Andre, maybe the Dirrell's also but i think James being slightly younger than Ward may have the edge

It would no doubt be a fight for the purists and i'd fancy Ward to win but apart from maybe Froch and Groves theres nobody close to challenging Andre in the slightest at 168,dont get me wrong Ward should have pretty much won a shut out against Carl no matter what the judges said but Carls never lost a rematch and you gotta give a stubborn warrior like Froch the benifit of the doubt and say he has a chance of KO'n Ward in a rematch

Incidently id favour Ward against Froch,Groves and DeGale but they are live opponents nonetheless,id maybe give James most chance of winning
No way is Degale as quick as Andre Dirrell. I dont think he's as quick as ward either though he has got speed.

Direll doesnt hit that hard to be fair.

It wasn't Dirrell's power that stopped Froch steam rolling him it was the fact he was running all night.

I have very little interest in this fight, Froch has just had two domestic dust ups in a row, I'd like to see face a big name international opponent next, ideally Golovkin or Chavez jr

If it does happen I'd expect Froch to come from behind to stop him late

There isn't any real standout fight for Carl at super mid considering the Ward rematch doesn't look likely.

Chavez Jnr, DeGale, Kessler 3? I wouldn't blame him if he called it a day. Spanking domestic rival at Wembley in your final fight. Not a bad way to bow out.

Golovkin?

DeGale? I think Carl makes him go into his shell and Froch wins a rather ugly, but clear decision.

Could be a nightmare for Froch till about round 6/7 then thats
When Degale goes flat. ...Froch stops him in 9 or 10..

Froch would win but I don't see this fight happening.

Froch is not up for it from what I can see in his weekend media interviews and he wants to fight Chavez in Vegas badly. It also sounds like he wants the grudge match with Kessler, if the Chavez fight doesn't come through.

I would like to see this fight happen if only just to see how Degale has improved since his fight with groves.

I think Degale would be able to go the distance because he uses his footwork better and doesn't trade unnecessary punches as often as groves has done in his last few fights but this makes me wonder if he has the power to trouble Froch.

If they clashed - id be backing a Froch KO win the middle rounds

Jimbo on his best night could win it by the width of a piece of paper. I did not see his last fight where he jumped on the Virgil Hunter boxer early on.
However, I did see him 12 months ago make laborious work of an American chap that came over to box him at the Bluewater shopping mecca on channel 5, where he seemed to lose concentration as well as get tired. On a performance like that, even a sluggish Froch performance would be enough to stop him, imo.
I think Degale gets an extra 10-20% out of himself when the big show comes to town.

Degale is willing to take only 15 per cent of the money or less to make sure this fight happens.

Would be a very interesting fight this one

For me Degale wins on points.
