Degale vs Froch - who wins?
Degale vs Froch - who wins?
Good chance of this fight happening next. Degale is now Froch's mandatory.
Froch may decide to hang them up, or go after a big Vegas showdown with Golovkin or Chavez instead. If not then its another big UK showdown.
If they fight next, who wins and how?
I'll take Degale on points.

Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
Degale seems a sturdy sort. But Froch can grind him down and stop him around the 10th.
Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
Degale is clearly quite skilled but he's more of a stationary-boxer than a mover and he spends a lot of time against the ropes. I don't think that style will work well against Froch, who struggles with movement but excels when an opponents stands with him and especially when he has someone against the ropes. Degale also has a history of being lazy and perhaps not being as active in the ring as he should be, and I think he may find it difficult to keep up with Froch.
I'd take Froch.
I'd take Froch.

Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
DeGale is the superior boxer, better than Groves.
But is power isnt all that, he does slap his punches a bit.
Froch by late rounds KO

Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
If he fights off the ropes and allows Froch to get off he just isn't going to win.
Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
James would have rope burns on his back within a minute, Froch would bring too much heat.

it wouldn't be a blood and guts war, but don't see it as a terrible style match-up.FIGHTFANs wrote:would not want to see that fight clash styles would make it a terrible fight

Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
Dirrell repeat. So up to those judges me thinks. Unless Carl dusts off the right hand.
Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
Degale has very good boxing ability when he uses it but more recently ive noticed that he'll throw a single shot and then it ends up in an ugly clinch. Not great to watch. I'd prefer to see Groves-Degale 2 actually. Id go and see that.
Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
Its a tough fight to call and Froch struggles more with the slick speedy fighters, but unless he gets olds I think Carl will find away to win. Degale is good but he is not Andre Ward.
Anyway Froch doesn't need to go backwards at this stage of his career, Degale is a bit of a no win, unless he is being given a complete gimme, he deserves the big payday against JCC jnr,or the elites in the division like Ward, GGG or even Stevenson.

I liked what McCracken said it's up to Carl what he does therefore hopefully he relinquishes the title and Groves, DeGale can fight for it, that be fun.

Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
would go the same way as last night.
Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
I would hope Froch knocks out DeGale the guy is next to Broner the biggest knob in boxing.
He does have plenty of ability though and there is a danger of over-rating Froch based on the Groves fights.
I think it'd be a very difficult fight for Froch.

Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
I hope Froch retire s as the champ
Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
I think James finally showed-up last night and gave a performance that underlines that when he puts it all together he's world class, credible and extremely dangerous. The speed and accuracy of some of his punches and the way he stepped in and out of range was impressive. And he managed to box at a high pace, kept the pressure right on Gonzales, and did not switch-off himself which has been a worrying issue in the past and allowed opponents to get back into fights.
It has certainly taken a while (and sometimes been a bit disappointing as a Chunky supporter) but James has arrived!
Froch is clearly a different kettle-of-piranhas to Gonzales (who looked like a guy with a case of stage fright and perhaps not as good as advertised) but I am much more optimistic now that James would be a very live underdog.
As stated in another thread, I think Froch is Vegas bound and he was talking about that kind of fight last night to the newspaper guys as well. But we'll see.....afterall Froch v Groves 2 started-off as a fight that wasn't going to happen.

Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
I agree with this. Been there, seen it, done it. Although he does say he wants to fight in America... I've got a feeling he'll end up fighting Chavez's son in somewhere like Madison Square Garden or Vegas.tear up wrote:I hope Froch retire s as the champ
Degale by the way has that ability to look really slick when he's winning, but less good when he's in a hard fight. I have a feeling that he wouldn't have the mental strength to deal with Froch for 12 rounds, imo.
Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
I think Degale. Styles make fights Degale doesn't get hit clean and has a very good chin. He has a very awkward style which would cause anyone nightmares.. I agree about the ropes but Froch is wild with his punches and Degale would pick him off even on the ropes. Degale on pts.. I hope it doesn't happen. Think Froch should fight Chaves Jnr best chance to finish on top and he deserves that. Stay away from Golovkin he will get knocked out cold.

Re: Degale vs Froch - who wins?
Just as interesting is has DeGale got the speed and style to trouble Ward?
I think so,in the same way I feel Khan can trouble Mayweather with his speed,DeGale is the only other fighter in the SMW division thats as fast as Andre, maybe the Dirrell's also but i think James being slightly younger than Ward may have the edge
It would no doubt be a fight for the purists and i'd fancy Ward to win but apart from maybe Froch and Groves theres nobody close to challenging Andre in the slightest at 168,dont get me wrong Ward should have pretty much won a shut out against Carl no matter what the judges said but Carls never lost a rematch and you gotta give a stubborn warrior like Froch the benifit of the doubt and say he has a chance of KO'n Ward in a rematch
Incidently id favour Ward against Froch,Groves and DeGale but they are live opponents nonetheless,id maybe give James most chance of winning
