It wasn't worth watching.
Out of interest, did you watch it?
Hisataka Vs Kogawa was REALLY good, the 8th round would have had Max Kellerman creaming his pants, several of the undercard bouts were great, Ishida and Ishii really impressed me and Kohama has a VERY misleading record considering the skills he showed.
I can't get excited about Japanese boxing. I don't know who the fighters are and I can't relate to them. I've tried over the years without success.
Edit: the only Japenese sportsman I've ever warmed to is Sakuraba and why was that? Huge personality.

You can't get excited about talent and wars? Then that's a real shame. The likes of Arakawa, Yaegashi, Koki Eto, Kamegai, Inoue, Tanaka and Murata are all worth following intently.
Not knowing about the fighters leave you open to surprises, as Ishii and Ishida showed yesterday

I can get excited about talent and wars but not when I don't know (or care about) the whys and wherefores. I can't invest the time it would take to get to know these fellows.

I never got the approach of needing to know a fighter to enjoy a fight. If a fight is good then the names attached to it doesn't mean anything to me. Fred Smith fighting Yoshihiro Kaneko in a 4 round war would be more to my taste than watching Tyson Fury Vs Larryitus the Latvian bin cleaner in a mismatch.
Sorry for derailing this topic >_<

No, I didn't watch it. It was a sub-domestic level Japanese card.
I'm only interested in international fights when it's two top 15 world ranked boxers going at it.

So Kogawa, who probably should actually be the WBA interim Light Flyweight champion and a clear top 15 guy at 112lbs, is sub-domestic? I know the Japanese scene at Fly is insane (Ioka, Muranaka, Eto) but still...
I'll admit Hisataka isn't what he once was but it was less than a year ago that he was in a world title fight with #1 guy at 115lbs.

Kogawa is ranked 7th in Japan and Hisataka is ranked 12th. Japan has a lot of good fighters in that division so, fair enough, that fight qualifies as domestic level or higher, but the rest of the card didn't.
I also didn't know about the show, just like most others on here didn't, so I was never likely to watch.

I think they criticised FW one time, and had their credentials withdrawn. Then kept pretty much in line afterwards
They got stuck behind a ring post a long way back so boycotted the shows. I can't remember if it was connected but a letter from Fwank took up the full front page around that time.
Just to clarify, subsequent to that I criticised a Warren undercard and was banned from Sexton-Rogan II so we've hardly kept in line since Claude.
@sklar: that's the bit i don't get, re back stories.
for me, 'the tall fella needs to maintain distance' or 'the southpaw needs to get his foot outside', is all the context i require.
i spent 20mins the other nite watching one of the better bareknuckle scraps, i skipped through the traditional 'His uncle fergus beat my uncle callum/ no fighting men in this county can beat a Monaghan' stuff, it wouldn't add anything that the sight of two reasonably-skilled, reasonably-prepared men trying to knock each others blocks gives me.
same goes for the fairly common argument, 'they are too small i cant relate to them', boxing would be a very small potential pool of interest if that affected me. Almost nobody in boxing can i relate to in that sense. Tall skinny white men with big noses are at something of a premium, though thinking about it i should probably treasure froch a little more whilst he is still around.
Oh, and i also think that, if i may say so, if you did take a little time, you would find much in the Japanese boxing setup that would very much appeal to you. BP overplays the hand somewhat, now and then, as Defender of All Things Lower Weight and Japanese- its his franchise, so to say- but Japanese boxing has a quite ruthless, Darwinian, survival-of-the-fittest ethic, that i think would appeal to both your instinct and your reason.
Maybe. I bought wholesale into Pride and I've studied the Pacific Campaign in quite a bit of depth so I've not completely shut them out but their boxing has always passed me by.
