He basically seems like the sort of guy who once your involved with, you will have an awful mess on your hands if you try and get out of it. Totally understand Cobra but FW has been going a lot longer than Eddie. The future might not always be so rosy, as you mention, they are all sharks and in it for the money.

is there any reason a fighter looking to sign with a promoter such as allegedly couldnt set up his own company, make himself an employee of said company, and then put all business deals with the promoter through the company? then if the fighter finds himself in a spot of bother like ricky has, just fold the business and walk away unscathed as frank has?

That's a conundrum, I think the bottom line may be that a fighter gets into the ring, not a limited company. In Hollywood even if the asking rate is thirty million dollars to star in a film, at the end of the day the film company / studio is hiring the individual star,not his company. But I am all for anything that gives fighters more protection from the pitfalls of the business side of the sport.

They could do it if they want. I think promoters discourage it for obvious reasons. Why would they want to deal with a company representing a fighter which could liquidate (as a promotional company would) and fornicate them over?

It's not possible to sign a boxer promotor agreement if you are a limited company the problems start when boxers get wrongly advised and sign private agreements that run alongside the original board agreement
