Was 17st 7lbs, Buffer messed up the weight conversion from 245lbs, announced him as Kevin Mitchell too  Definitely looked in better shape than usual though.

He looks built in the Fury mould. Solid all round but not ripped, abs but not craters if you know what I mean.

Great to see Kevin Johnson turn up in shape for this fight, he must see it as his last decent pay cheque so wants to give a good account of himself.

I've heard he was saving himself for this fight. He's getting a few quid, to try and give Joshua some rounds.

Joshua's the one showing a belly at the weigh-in, though not the type that Johnson usually does. He seems to have a slight bodybuilder's gut and has jumped about 20 pounds since his debut.

Could he be getting too bulky? I'm curious about the type of stamina he'll show if he can't bomb out an opponent and is put under at least a bit of pressure.

Spot on that is still a lot even for a tank like AJ will be very intriguing his career for sure. Wlad is the same weight and similar weight, Wilder on the over hand whilst similar height is 30lbs less.

Wilder has the skinniest legs I recall seeing on such a tall man, which probably accounts for his relatively low weight. He boxed at the amateur equivalent of cruiser and used to be an all-round beanpole, but he's added significant upper-body mass since turning pro.

Joshua is weighing close to what Wlad (who has a history of stamina problems) is these days at roughly the same height, but Wlad's mass seems more evenly-proportioned and he lacks the hulking upper-body that Joshua has developed. AJ said in an interview that during points of his teenage years he was more interested in lifting than boxing, and that's unsurprising to me given his physique. He's performed very well so far and it may not be an issue, but I'm curious to see whether he starts flagging if he can't bomb someone out, especially if they show a desire to win.

I disagree with that. Check out these pics of Wlad : WLAD and compare with the pic on here from the Newcastle show weigh in : JOSHUA

Perhaps slightly different around the midriff but near enough identical physiques. And I'd have no concerns about Wlad's stamina when he's gone 12 rounds with Povetkin, Haye, Wach and Jennings and barely lost a round.

They look similar, though I think Joshua appears to have notably bigger arms and at 25 has reached a weight that Wladimir didn't until he was 36 and rematching Thompson, which is incidentally the example you've linked. I also think that a large factor in Wlad being able to win over 12 is his pacing, as he throws few punches and doesn't commit to many like he did earlier in his career when he punched himself out against and was stopped by Purrity and Brewster. To this point Joshua has seemed like a go for the kill type, and I'm curious to see if he adjusts when he realizes that an opponent may not go down easily.

I can agree that style will play a bigger factor in how well AJ lasts into later rounds than physique. I would like to believe that he knew he was in against inferior opposition and could go for the quick finish with confidence - we may well find out tonight whether he can adjust when facing an opponent who can withstand his heaviest blows.

I think around 245lbs is ideal for a thick-set 6ft5 heavyweight, I certainly don't think Joshua should be adding more bulk to what he is now (was it about 248lbs he weighed in at yesterday?)

"Showing a belly" yet clearly displaying defined abs .....

It may be the angle of the picture, but it looks as though Joshua has a distended abdomen - I understand that in the body-building fraternity such a condition is often referred to as "roid gut".

Profile on AJ yesterday....a puff piece really, Donald McRae seems a bit too in awe of the great AJ - and got to say, Joshua seems a bit deluded himself too - under the impression that pretty much any heavy is going to bow down before his earth shaking power, and speaking about his last win over the great Zumbano like he's just knocked out Joe Frazier.
Plus all that crap about him facing 10 years in jail for having a bag of weed on him sounds like a load of bullshite..

No doubt this over confidence is due to the long line of bums that fast Eddie has been matching him against.

I doubt Kevin BurgerKingpin Johnson is going to test him much either.
That is utter shite indeed. I was caught with an ounce in my 20's, and got a 35 pound fine.

I think everyone is getting a little too excited about Joshua at this stage, there's stuff to be excited about, but let's not get carried away.
Mass importers who get caught with millions of pounds worth only get about ten years theses day.
