The stoppage was a good one. I often disagree with Foster's interventions, but this time he saved Ryder from uneccessary punishment.

I thought Blackwell really come good in this fight and once he found his form (in the 4th), it seemed enevitable that Blackwell was going to come out on top. Although Ryder showed some class, nothing seemed to deter Blackwell. I suspect there was loads left in the tank for Blackwell, not so for Ryder, even if the fight hadn't ended when it did.

Blackwell has done it the hard way and is a very worthy British champion, at the 3rd attempt. Nick deserves a thread all to himself following this fantastic win. I just loved the way he refused to play of the role of fall-guy and I sensed there was an assumption that Ryder would just have to appear to claim what was his.....wrong!

Agreed , the stoppage was ok and didn't see much complaining from either Ryder or his corner , i'm sure he will come good again

can't see Blackwell against Etches , though they were both promoted by Hennesey ?

I think blackwell would have stopped him in that round anyway but what foster does by jumping in too soon is not only steal the chance away from the hurt fighter to get back into the fight but also robs the fighter on top of a conclusive victory.

Ryder was wobbled badly, then took a succession of clean shots before staggering backwards into the ropes with his hands down, at no point did he attempt to defend himself or hold on and at times he looked like he didn't know where he was.

Spot on Expe but I don't think the truth bothers chiggsy and he certainly don't let it get in the way of his moaning.
What Foster does is let the lads be in good health to have a rematch if that is what the public wants rather than leave it too late and the lads never fight again. I know what I would prefer to see.

Excellent stuff, I really cant get enough of navelgazing singer-songwriters shoehorning various non-sequiturs together in the guise of profundity.

John is a very good fighter, I personally thought it was a good stoppage john never complained or his corner.
A rematch down the line would be good also

As Ryder was no longer defending himself, I thought the stoppage was fair. Blackwell took his chance really well. He was being outboxed for large chunks of that fight.
