Haha, I can remember one of the England players (Gary Neville I think) running down the wing and all the commentator was saying was what a brilliant snooker player he was

I wasn't that big on football when I was a kid. Didn't really get into it until my 20s.
I remember Channel 5 showing a couple of England games, just barely. I think it was shortly after Channel 5 became a channel.
If the coverage was as bad as that boxing coverage, it must've been truly abysmal. I'm not sure whether to be glad or disappointed I didn't see it.

Yeah could be that.
People scoff at the production (and must admit it sounded a bit daft) but more boxing on tv the better for me! Especially when free to view to many.

Though it's true that the importance of having boxing on freeview can't be underestimated, don't defend the coverage until you've actually seen it.
To call it a bit daft is like saying Sepp Blatter may occasionally bend a rule.

But did it show the fights? That's all I'm bothered about and that's my point.

I didn't misunderstand the point. I wasn't disagreeing.

But just to play devil's advocate, coverage that horrific is likely to drive casual fans away. There won't be boxing on freeview for much longer if they keep treating the sport as a joke. If I was a first time boxing viewer, and had watched that, I'd assumed even the experts thought the sport wasn't worth watching.
What we don't want is analysis that physically stops people watching.

This ^
I tried to watch the show live on Saturday but just couldn't stand to watch all the "banter" in between fights. I recorded the show to watch on Sunday morning instead however by then I knew the results and only watched bits of each fight. I pretty much watch all things boxing on TV, including KOTV and the terrible Eurosport shows, however Saturday was the first time I've ever stopped watching because of the quality of the production.
I think Dennis Hobson knows the score. He was Tweeting yesterday that he hopes his next show will be on Spike TV. I sent him a Tweet stating I hope it gets TV coverage, but no Fish, Chips and Scraps. He retweeted and favourited.

I get your point about Eurosport. I watch all the British shows on there, but tape the European & some of the stuff on there is proper drivel. The product on Spike was better it was just the bollocks before & inbetween that was hard going.

I see your point I was coming from a purely selfish perspective knowing I'd put up with that kind of crap just to watch fights I otherwise wouldn't see, as I'm sure most on here would but appreciate not everyone is like us.

You're not wrong. I feel the same as you. The coverage isn't the important bit, we watch for the fights. If given the choice, I'd have had the Kell Brook card and the Amir Khan fight on Spike TV too.
Just kind of putting out the presentation was, shall we say, unprofessional.

Looking at Dennis Hobson's Twitter page. He's not outright stated anything, but he seems to be implying that his card from Sheffield on 4th July will be televised.

Yeah its a bit confusing at the moment about this one, I've seen tweets saying the cards on both but not sure in what way.
Someone above suggested it could be the undercard on Spike and main fight or two on Channel 5. I've checked the Ch5 listings and its on 10pm-12pm like normal. Can't find the Spike ones for that day yet (for some reason they only go up to 4pm on the site I use)

Looks like they are:
http://firstclassboxing.com/lara-rodrig ... e-team-up/
As predicted Haskins undercard is on Spike from 7.30pm (then 10pm on Channel 5).
PLUS Lara - Rodriguez live early hours of that day
More boxing on tv, can only be a positive thing for me.

Channel 5 and Spike TV team up? They're owned by the same company. How would that be a team up? That'd be like BBC 1 teaming up with BBC 2....

With C5 getting the football league highlights it could be the case of Spike having the undercard then C5 having the main fight after the football league show. 9-10.30 highlights then main fight after makes sense

And I'm sure would increase viewing figures, people watching the football league show may not be interested if it was the full card but if they can just watch the main fight straight after I'm sure many would.

Man, I hope so...
I even e-mailed in saying the format was rubbish.
I was quite polite about it, saying it was good to see boxing on Freeview. I didn't want to lose that. But asked if they'd consider a more professional approach to presenting it.

Any news on whether Virgin are getting in on the action?,I can't seem to find anything recent
I don't seem to have Freeviw on my TV, not that I'm aware of anyway,I managed to get the Burkinshaw card on 5 on demand on the telly but I just hope they keep putting all their cards on because i can't watch it on demand online because my shitty little tablet won't allow it
I'll be gutted if I miss Lara-Rodriguez on Friday and the Haskins undercard the next night

But, it is good to have boxing on free view still. I think that's important. It'll be good if they get more.
As long as the pundits are boxing experts, and not rugby league players and random drunks.

Brilliantly put! I caught up with the bill and Davies was robbed, terrible decision...
On a lighter note, very funny to see Jamie Moore awkwardly holding a banana not wanting to peel it open while talking boxing with that motley crew
