Biggest duck ever? Wilder will likely vacate title, unwilling to fight his mandatory Povetkin
Re: Biggest duck ever? Wilder will likely vacate title, unwilling to fight his mandatory Povetkin
Riddick Bowe threw a title in the trash instead of taking the beating he deserved against Lennox Lewis. But he had balls and had to fight other top guys. Wilder refuses to fight any of the top guys. He is a coward. Plain and simple.

wilder won the title 12 months ago and will be making his 4th defense against povetkin
in a few months because POVETKIN delayed the fight. when wilder beats povetkin's azz
there are going to be lots of droolboy excuse makers on here.

I slightly favor Povetkin when and if they do fight. But if Wilder was to win there would 516 excuses as to why Wilder is still a bum.sucracristo wrote:wilder won the title 12 months ago and will be making his 4th defense against povetkin

I like both fighters but the hatred that Wilder gets is a joke.

If my memory serves me correctly, you can add Lennox Lewis to that list also because he threw his belt in the trash when they tried to match him against Chris Byrd and many believe that he ducked Bowe and not the other way around.Tony1244 wrote:"""...As far as I know, he is the first heavyweight titlist in the history of boxing to ever voluntarily vacate a title..."""
* Leon Spinks vacated a title because he refused to defend against Ken Norton.
* Tyson Fury vacated a title because he refused to defend against Czar Glaskov.
* Michael Spinks vacated a title preferring a defense against Gerry Cooney.
* Riddick Bowe vacated a title choosing a defense of Holyfield over Lewis.

Ryabinsky, Povetkin's promoter claims that Wilder will be voluntarily vacating his WBC heavyweight title because he doesn't want to fight Alexander Povetkin, his mandatory challenger.
***This is quite possibly the most ridiculous, pathetic, and sad attempt at heavyweight championship boxing I've ever seen***. Wilder is a fraud. His team are a fraud. It's hard for anyone to defend him after this. As far as I know, he is the first heavyweight titlist in the history of boxing to ever voluntarily vacate a title. Muhammad Ali vacated a title but that was different, he did so for political reasons. Wilder is vacating because his management team is simply unwilling (afraid) to fulfill their mandatory obligation of fighting Alexander Povetkin.
This is sad on so many levels. Shame on Wilder. Shame on Wilder's team. This is the biggest duck I've ever seen in pro boxing. This is 100% dork move.
I actually made a poll on this site, on boxrec.com, about 8 months ago asking in a poll if Wilder would vacate rather than fight Povetkin, and in that thread I pedicted that Wilder would vacate and be unwilling to fight Povetkin. So I'm not surprised
Wilder and his team might as well come out and say: "I can't beat Povetkin, so I'm not willing to take the risk and fight him, so instead I am giving up my belt so that I don't have to fight him and get knocked out."
I think this is the biggest duck in the history of boxing!

Is it official that Wilder chumped out to Povetkin? Or is someone prematurely ejaculating?

Nop, Wilder would clearly made the biggest duck ever, you can't compare Fury's situation with Wilder his. Tyson even offered to let his own cousin fight with Glazkov and we all know Hughie would very most likely have won.Tony1244 wrote:"""...As far as I know, he is the first heavyweight titlist in the history of boxing to ever voluntarily vacate a title..."""

Fury was stripped only because he wouldn't fight Glaskov. I'm against him being stripped, but the point is many HWs have voluntarily vacated a title for various reasons.Nightmare Roy wrote:Fury was stripped.Tony1244 wrote:"""...As far as I know, he is the first heavyweight titlist in the history of boxing to ever voluntarily vacate a title..."""Andrew Kearney wrote:http://www.BS.com/povetkins-pr ... in--100804

I probably should have switched the names Bowe with Lewis; either way this has happened many times before. Nothing "first" at all about it.

He signed a contract with Klitschko that forced him to fight Klitschko again, it wasn't a duck and he did want to fight, he just couldn't do it before Klitschko and believe me, Klitschko is far superior to Glazkov.Tony1244 wrote:asdfjkl wrote:Nop, Wilder would clearly made the biggest duck ever, you can't compare Fury's situation with Wilder his. 1. Fury didn't duck Glazkov, he was stripped of it because he had a contractual defence against Klitchko before he's even won the bloody thing. The IBF is ridiculous for stripping him of the belt in the first place, especially 5 minutes after winning it because he wouldn't jump through the hoop they proposed. Most other organisations at least give the fighter a little bit of manoeuvrability over their defences.
2. Why would Fury duck Glaskov? Fury is a class above Glazkov, and surely if he was going to duck anything, he'd duck a rematch with Klitchko. As much as I dislike Fury for his antics, he definitely comes across as someone that is not afraid to get in the ring with anyone, and Glazkov is not the most dangerous of heavyweights.

I believe we're having a language barrier. I also said Glaskov is inferior and stripping Fury was ridiculous.

Is Povetkin ready or is it all Wilder's fault? Didn't Povetkin also duck a shot a Wlad's tilte for about 3 years? The only first is, Povetkin is ducking shots for the title. Wilder hasn't surrendered the WBC belt to duck Povetkin. IF he does, that, I'll criticize him along with everyone else.

Re: Biggest duck ever? Wilder will likely vacate title, unwilling to fight his mandatory Povetkin
Povetkin was ready all the time, but Povetkin only fights twice a year, Wilder prefered to fight Duhaupas so Povetkin moved on to Wach after that and planned to wait 6 months after that, somehow Wilder suddenly said, knowing that Povetkin wouldn't fight in januari that Povetkin ducked him?!Tony1244 wrote:asdfjkl wrote:He signed a contract with Klitschko that forced him to fight Klitschko again, it wasn't a duck and he did want to fight, he just couldn't do it before Klitschko and believe me, Klitschko is far superior to Glazkov.Tony1244 wrote:

Now that's just a plain lie, Wilder had the option to fight Povetkin but didn't dare and chose Duhaupas, so don't act like it was Povetkin who was ducking, it was Wilder who was ducking all the time.

A) Lemme know when the belt hits the trash.
B) Alexander Povetkin once willingly gave up his IBF mandatory against Wladimir Klitschko because he was scared and ultimately cancelled the fight something like twice more before getting knocked down a bazillion times in the eventual fight. Hearing his people talk about being ducked is hilarious when Povetkin was the guy squirreled away fighting Teke Oruhs for years.
C) Fury never ducked Glazkov. His people offered to make a deal for after the Klitschko rematch and Glazkov's people refused unless it was the very next fight. Main Events and Glazkov screwed Glazkov.

Man I don't know about all the hyperbole, but I want to be a Wilder fan and I'm gonna' be bigtime disappointed if he doesn't fight Povetkin next.
He's gotta' take the training wheels off at some point.

I will not be one bit surprised if Wilder ducks Povetkin. Povetkin would most likely knock Wilder out and Wilders team knows it :geek2:

silly discussions about pointless baubles
Deontay Wilder is not a world champion in any sense other than some crummy organization recognizes him.
Fury could ditch every bauble...but as long as he still fights...he's the world champion.
couldn't give a rats arse what Wilder or Povetkin do with their baubles
means nothing

Clearly, Wilder enjoyed the moment. But nearly two weeks later, he can’t help but think about another fighter whom he wanted on the other end of his punches that evening: Russian contender Alexander Povetkin, the mandatory challenger to Wilder’s title.
“He’s supposed to be the one who got knocked out that night,” Wilder says. “But they needed more time for me, and we understand. I just don’t like to be held [back], making it seem like it’s my fault or that I’m running from him. That’s not the case. It was the other way around. We’re ready, and they’re not. I want to be an active champion, and we’re not going to wait for anybody.”
According to Wilder, though, the wait is over. Povetkin’s up.
“That’s going to be my next fight,” he says. “It’s happening.”
