Ingle was probably a hardcore trainer in camp.... but inbetween he liked the beer..KOJOE90 wrote:I thought Ingle had a habit of ballooning between fights? Or have I got that wrong?headhunter wrote:i once read dennis andries was a fitness fanatic.

Hardest training British fighters ever.
Here is the link-jamesmcdonnell wrote:Sadly, there are no plans to distribute it over here. However, if you go to Amazon.com. it is on sale there, however it is on pre-order and the American title is slightly different.Coconut wrote:James, that workout book you reviewed on Max, is it going to be on sale over here?
Look for 'Workouts with boxing's greatest champions' it is by Gary Todd. Not sure what the release date in the states is yet.

Sounds interesting.
funnily enough, my mate Karim Bouali.... a very good pro himself sparred with many of Europes top talents and always said Neary was the hardest guy he had sparred with, that included Hatton, George Scott, Thomas Damgaard etc etced r wrote:I've never seen anyone train as hard as Shea Neary did as champion.
you are gonna think i am bullshitting now but belive me when i tell you Karim hadnt been near a gym for over 6 months when he went to spar with Hatton.... so he walks in and in his first training session has to spar hatton (in front of SKy TV cameras) who is weeks away from a fight.... thats the bit they televised.....THEBUTCH wrote:That is funny because Bouali looked to be having a rough time of it when he sparred Hatton a while back (can't remember what fight Hatton was preparing for). They had to stop the sparring because Bouali was badly winded by a..... surpise, surprise body shot!
shame they werent there at the end of the week when things were a lot more evenly matched

One of the hardest training fighters ive ever seen was a guy called Vince Burns.
He wasnt a name and on paper he had a poor record, but he was a featherweight always matched at short notice with light welters. He was avery good amatuer, beating guys with over 100 fights when he had had just 10 or 12 fights.
His pro manager was a complete wanker and didnt look out for him at all. His manager knows who he is, I need not name him.
On a typical day Vinces training regime was as follows.
5am 5 Mile run. With sprints and shuttles around St James and Green Park.
7am Breakfast followed by a walk then bed for an hour or two.
11am Gym. Skipping, Bags, Pads, Sparring, Groundwork.
2.30pm Lunch, followed by a sleep.
5pm. Weight traning and swimming.
7pm. Dinner and walk.
9pm Bed.
I used to run with him sometimes. When it was pissing down, I'd cry off. He would run up and down all the stairs and sprint along the walkways of our local council tower block.
The guy was fitter than a butchers dog.

Maybe one of his girlfiends was chasing him?Lugh wrote:Me and a friend saw him running in Brighton/Hove once - I don't know how hard he was training but he stopped for a chat - nice guy.MightyWarrior wrote:I've heard Honeyghan always trained like a demon.
Roger irrelevant ain't got shit on me!
I think he usualy has around six on the go. No wonder he needed to be so fit!
On second thoughts, if it was an ex-wife girlfriend on his tail, I doubt he'd have stopped for a chat.

sorry to be MR Pedantic.
I've heard Charles Shepherd is a manic trainer.

I read that he does a 1000 sit-ups a day fight or no fight.

Carl Thompson has to be very fit to recover like he does from being hurt, as did Naseem Hamed.
Steve Collins and Wayne McCullough were/are had a particularly impressive work rate.
I think it took tremendous fitness for Jim MacDonnel and Mickey Cantwell to fight the way they did in the respected clashes with Azumah Nelson and Jake Matlala.
