I've written on here that I don't think they should test for weed, but they do.
The last thing Wilder needs with critics questioning everything from his recent weak opponents to sabotaging Povetkin's results, is his opponent failing another test, even for weed.
Pulev would get the WBC belt if he won, you'd think he'd jump at it considering some think Wilder is so bad. But seriously, even though I am a fan of Wilder, I don't think Wilder's team would accept a fight from Pulev unless it was mandated.
Why would Pulev jump at the chance for way less money? That's four weeks from now. Backlash is fine for Wilder, it means people care. What he needs is a fight to make some coin and stay active after waiting for Povetkin for months.
If Pulev won, he could demand more money for a unification fight with winner of Fury-Wlad 2.
With no WBC belt Pulev is just another contender.
With guys like Parker and Joshua waiting in the wing, and a probable unification down the road, Pulev may have to wait a long long tome for anything called a title shot.
Of course its all about the money, but logic would tell me Pulev wants Wilder more than Wilder wants Pulev.
I've never spoken to Pulev, but I would be shocked if any fighter would take on a big fight on 4 weeks notice for a purse way less than he just made in a fight. It's not like he's never had a title before, he just netted a mandatory shot. It really makes no sense at all in this day and age.
Furthermore, Pulev has his own promoters. They're going to be cool with 200k or so? The only way to make this is in house.

I did say its all about the money, so Pulev would have to be unbelievably confident of victory. Yes unfortunately boxing doesn't work on short notice anymore. Maybe I wasn't clear; I know it won't be Pulev. What I want and what I predict are usually quite different. I predict it will be Arreola, Washington, and Kauffman in that order. I'd want it to be Povetkin, Pulev, or Joshua.
But I also want.....never mind......

Oh, I'd rather see Pulev too. I thought you were saying Wilder should be doing better. This is as good as it gets. Though honestly, I'd prefer Gerald Washington. I abhor Arreola. That being said, Wilder/Arreola will be more entertaining than Fury/Wlad. I'll just enjoy watching Joshua clean up the mess.

On the other hand he's very easy to beat... This makes him an Al Haymon natural selection... Povetkin would have been very difficult to beat.

Why would he do that? He has a slight punchers chance against Wilder, and he's faced more dangerous opponents than Wilder.
Puncher's chance? A bar of margarine purchased at your local grocery store has the same odds of winning this fight as Arreola.
Arreola will take a dive to limit himself from damage, I'm sure of it. He will be there only to collect his check. That's it.

I am saying Wilder should be fighting better opponents and this comes from someone who likes Wilder. Arreola is ridiculous as an opponent, even though I don't agree with those who say he will take a dive. Don't remember him doing that.

This fight sucks.
But this is what you get when one fighter fails his drug test.

It's not ridiculous at all, already went over why. He tried to fight Povetkin and now he's staying active with Arreola. Perfectly fine behavior for a guy who just got screwed.

I wish Wada and Vada never screwed up, then Wilder had no excuse left and this fight against that old drugged guy would have never happened. And don't act like they couldn't find anyone better, Ortiz, Jennings, Washington, there are piles of guys availeble. Even Whyte, who would probably win against him is availeble and it would hace been awesome to have two world title defences on one evening there.
The worst thing is, that I now have to hope that Wilder actually wins this fight, otherwise Povetkin will have to wait even longer.

If Arreola shows up focused, he has a real chance in the first 2 rounds.

Way to harsh of a reaction for both guys in this forum. Wilder had a big fight yanked from him late so he had to turn that into a "stay busy" fight" so why not go with a guy that has notoriety and a good amount of followers. I know Arreola is limited but i've watched him for years and i find him entertaining. What do people expect? Wilder to schedule a fight with Ortiz or Joshua and train for them for 3 weeks? No promotional marketing? It's silly.
Arreola's poured his heart out in the ring for years and come a long way with limited ability. I don't care about the failed tests, the guys put it on the line for years and come short. I'd much see a guy like him get a shot then some unknown young punk that hasn't shed a drop of blood in the ring yet.
Go easy here people. The only one to blame for this is Povetkin.

It is ridiculous but its not Wilder's fault. He doesn't make the decision. There are about 1/2 dozen names on the top 15 WBC list and about a dozen names overall who are more deserving than Arreola.

What does it matter who? Any boxer whom Wilder's team could get in such a short notice for such a small purse isn't a world beater (those are very few, occupied and expensive), as an understatement...
Jennings - second KO will end his career...why should he take a chance, for peanuts?
Briggs - no glory fighting old unranked fart
Washington - I prefer him over Arreola, a little bit

Does the laugh mean you think Wilder decides who he fights and has sole discretion? You've already agreed that as a fan, you'd prefer a different opponent so it can't be that.

Wrong, all parties except Povetkin are wrong actually.
Povetkin followed all the rules that have been written. Wada and Vada both don't know details about meldonium, but still put it on their illegal substances list and next to that, it hasn't even been proved that it has any positive results on athletes at all and they don't even know how long it takes to completely leave the body. That's why retards write that Povetkin used illegal substances, but in fact he stopped as soon as it became illegal. Actually, if he wanted to use meldonium, he simply accepted the fight in januari and was allowed to have well over 200 times as much meldonium in his body as he actually had. The WBC somehow wants Wada and Vada for odd reasons, probably because they don't have a clue what they are doing as well and Wilder and his team will get sued for blackmailing Povetkin time on time again saying Povetkin is a cheater, while he continually proves and proved he isn't, unlike Wilder btw. Meanwhile Wilder is going to fight someone who clearly did use illegal substances quite recently, a guy that actually did cheat, but appearantly that's not a problem.
In short, it barely matters what party involved you name, all of them can be blamed, except Povetkin.
