Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook - September 10th 2016

Who voted for a Brook win?
I reckon that the promoter is the reason behind all this. Golovkin (by Golovkin I mean his team) is needing to sign a fight ASAP, he has wasted time trying to negotiate a big dollar fight in the UK with Eubank Jr. and, as he has been stuffed around yet again, he is offered a big dollar fight in the UK in nine weeks time.......against Ebank Jr's stable mate, Brook. That seems quite apparent to me, if I was Golovkin I know what I would do, turn that fight down, probably not able to get another fight this year, and all that money and the chance to build a bigger fan base in the UK just to appease the likes of you and me.baron_otto wrote:Fair play to Kell for taking the fight but surely there was someone more suitable for GGG. Its like the Khan-Alvarez thing all over again.
Blimey, Brook can't win - gets accused of avoiding the top welterweight fighters, then signs to face the most feared middleweight out there and still gets accused of avoiding the top welterweight fighterssmoothmoves wrote:I wonder if Kells stabbing incident was worse than we thought. ie he can't train/move like he used to, hence the piss poor opposition since. Now they realise they can't hide from the best WW anymore, so best to take a big money fight where no one expects you to win but you get kudos just for taking it.
This stinks of topping up the retirement fund to me. I wouldn't be surprised if he retired shortly after this mauling.
For the record, I like Brook and I would hate to see him go out like that but something about all this doesn't sit right with me.

Come on, there's an odd angle to this. The fight simply makes no sense?Boxerbeetle wrote:Blimey, Brook can't win - gets accused of avoiding the top welterweight fighters, then signs to face the most feared middleweight out there and still gets accused of avoiding the top welterweight fighterssmoothmoves wrote:I wonder if Kells stabbing incident was worse than we thought. ie he can't train/move like he used to, hence the piss poor opposition since. Maybe....or maybe Hearn hasn't been lying when he said him and Brook have been desperate to make big fights with the other top welters and they haven't been able to get anyone interested. I don't know, and I don't much care tbh. Brook is stepping up against Golovkin and it's a fight I want to see, that's all I'm interested in.TheDarkDestroyer wrote:Come on, there's an odd angle to this. probably the best welter he ever faced, kells got no chance here and would also lose to eubank, dont know why people think its dead easy to jump up a couple of divisions and still be the same fighter, as a welter he only just sneaked past carson jones and porter but jumping up 2 weight divisions to take on GGG should be do-able ?Nightmare Roy wrote:As mad as it seems, Kell is still probably the best that GGG has ever faced, the bookies odds reflect this. I think GGG wins too, but I think Kell would beat Eubank with ease.
I have to disagree. He may be the most talented (i'm not necessarily saying he is) he's faced but the weight is a serious handicap to that. Jumping up 2 weight divisions is as bad as all these stupid catchweight fightsNightmare Roy wrote:As mad as it seems, Kell is still probably the best that GGG has ever faced, the bookies odds reflect this. All this talk about Kell being a big welter, and how he struggles to make weight, and how he'll be better at 160, is the same balls we were given before Khan fought Canelo - if that were true, Brook would be fighting at 160 already, and as we know, he isn't.littlepug wrote:probably the best welter he ever faced, kells got no chance here and would also lose to eubank, dont know why people think its dead easy to jump up a couple of divisions and still be the same fighter, as a welter he only just sneaked past carson jones and porter but jumping up 2 weight divisions to take on GGG should be do-able ?Nightmare Roy wrote:As mad as it seems, Kell is still probably the best that GGG has ever faced, the bookies odds reflect this. Apparently GGG is a small middle weight as well?jamesmcdonnell wrote:All this talk about Kell being a big welter, and how he struggles to make weight, and how he'll be better at 160, is the same balls we were given before Khan fought Canelo - if that were true, Brook would be fighting at 160 already, and as we know, he isn't.littlepug wrote:probably the best welter he ever faced, kells got no chance here and would also lose to eubank, dont know why people think its dead easy to jump up a couple of divisions and still be the same fighter, as a welter he only just sneaked past carson jones and porter but jumping up 2 weight divisions to take on GGG should be do-able ?Nightmare Roy wrote:As mad as it seems, Kell is still probably the best that GGG has ever faced, the bookies odds reflect this. Brook will get torn to pieces as soon as GGG lands a few flush shots, and everyone will wake up from their dream. It's a daft fight.
Legend. Cheers mate.SteveDow wrote:http://www.BS.com/gennady-golo ... on--106574
