Did Marvin Hagler need justification to fight Roberto Duran? Did Carlos Monzon need justification to fight Jose Napoles? The #1 Middleweight vs The #1 Welterweight is not an uncommon occurrence in Boxing history. Especially when the aforementioned Middleweight has already basically cleaned out the division.
1972 - 13 pounds :bag:
2016 - 2 pounds

Just like people buying 4K TVs who have never even seen full HD.
We've gone too far into some numbers to the point we passed the point of being reasonable.
So far, that people think a 135 pound is bigger than a 130 pound man.

As I see it, it's a legitimate fight. GGG doesn't seems like a huge drainer (I worry about him moving up),
and Brook is a drainer + he isn't a china-chinned chump like Khan.

Problem is, neither guy is a top 20 option for the other.

I'll be watching, because it isn't PPV, right?

Morales was competitive with maidana because he's Erik fornicating Morales. I knew he wouldn't get stopped heading in, thought I was wrong in the first though. Epic fight. The Garcia fight was great too.

Shame Danny didn't fight Maidana at 140 or 147. That would have been fun

I always thought maidana was better than his big bad wolf countrymen.

Not here it's not. It's just gonna be on HBO. It's a PPV in the U.K. though I believe

I didn't say Brook is on the same level as Duran and I didn't say GGG is on the same level as Hagler. I just said it's not uncommon throughout Boxing history for the #1 Welterweight to fight the #1 Middleweight, and that's true.

Several times in fact these fights were highly competitive.

Who hasn't been mismatched with 3G?

You actually have a great point, which makes my point even more evident. If no middleweight can handle GGG, what makes anyone think a welterweight can? Its not like Brook has Floyd-type defense, or Paul Williams type reach, devastating power, or a chin better than GGG's former opponents? To me it is laughable that folks think Brook has a legit chance. I would love it if I am wrong....what a shake up it would be!

Honestly I hope after Brook loses, he fights Khan at 154, KO's him, and forces Khan to retire. :OhYes:

Like others have pointed out, Brook is a huge welter who has likely grown out of that class. He is not as good defensively as FMJ but he has more pop. He is not as long as PWill but he definitely utilizes his gifts more skillfully. He doesn't have 3G's chin but he has a decent beard.

I agree that Brook is a prohibitive underdog but there are unknowns regarding Brook's move up and he is the most gifted and skilled pro that 3G has faced.

$ Question

Could you see Brook being able to keep it sloppy without getting hurt too often,
possibly getting it through 12 and getting a UK decision?

Odds
Golovkin KO 4-7 (about 7/1)
Brook winning (5/1)
Brook by points/decision (9/1)
Draw (25/1)

Hypothetically, where should a $50 go?

No bet there for me. I think Brook will be competitive, but i also think he is coming to win. That probably gets him stopped. Put your money on Nate Diaz tomorrow and just enjoy this one.

Why is Crawford in this list instead of Porter? Different weight class.

And I think it would be between Thurman and Spence.

Because Crawford is going to move up very soon. It's inevitable.

Just saw Spence totally outbox Bundu.
