The only time Eubank stepped up in class he looked far from world class and has reverted back to fighting domestic level opponents in his last 4 fights. He's done nothing to suggest he belongs at world level - stylishly beating up on overmatched opponents is no guarantee he'll be able to cope if and when he fights a world class opponent.

Can someone please explain how he's ranked no.3 in the boxrec ratings - I'm genuinely mystified

I'd love to see that bellend get battered and eventually sparked.

Eubank has the better style to trouble GGG and he is bigger. Also, I think he did want the fight.

Sky couldn't do anything with Brook at 147, knew Eubank had ppv potential but GGG now is too soon. Cashed in Brook by throwing him in with GGG, which also bought Eubank some time, meant GGG got older and introduced GGG to casual fans in UK.

Backfired when Eubank jumped ship from matchroom, but he'll be back. Boxing is a fickle mistress

Would of loved to see the Eubank fight. Jr can't box going backwards. He'd of had a war with GGG which GGG would of won.

I remember we all laughed 3 years ago when Eubank and his son were calling out Golovkin on a channel 5 undercard.

Scary he was only a signature away from the fight happening. Eubank has improved more than any other British boxer in that time.

I agree with this. Eubank is loads better now than in his first 10 fights or so, where I was not that confident in him. I think he will fight Golovkin at some point and has managed to bide himself some extra time to learn. Smart move.

Hello Mate,

I don't remember most people writing off Boy Eubank. Quite the opposite, in fact. People seemed to be impressed with him from the off.

I could be wrong (it's happened before  ) but I just don't recall most people being negative about him.

Brook is a considerably more talented fighter than Eubank jnr but of course, Chris has the size that Brook doesn't have.

I think Golovkin destroys Jnr, early doors too.

He always had a lot of natural ability, that was evident even in the early days. I agree he has come on nicely and is a good fighter in his own right. At the same stage he looks miles ahead of Benn's boy who doesn't look particularly impressive at all. I can't see that ever happening unless Benn is fed "scrubs", builds up a nice looking record ( stats wise ) and the Eubank's decide to cash in on the "rivalry". Very possible given how the Eubank's operate! ( most money for least amount of risk )

I m a bit taken a back with the replys regarding eubank junior in the early days. I never seen many of his early fights tbh but was of the opinion that most thought he was no good. Much the same with benns boy the now. Even up till quite recently i thought there was a lot who still didnt rate him.

I rate him pretty highly tbh. Hard nites work for anyone. The old mans actually guiding him well in terms of keeping him training like a beast etc. Couple of years like that...keep taking the right fights at the right time...wont be far away. If benns son does the same with the training which i doubt he might not be far away either. Different personality to benn and eubanks junior tho. But still a novice with time to learn

Eubank Jr. was much more impressive in his early days than Benn is now. In fact, I don't think Benn appears much better than some of the novice amateurs I've seen at local fights; he's fairly quick, but his technique is downright awful and at times it looks like he doesn't know how to throw a punch correctly.

I think in principle I'd rather be watching Kell, he's been a lot more professional, better managed you name it, so in a professional context would much rather see Brook get his chance. That said, in a purely boxing context I'd probably prefer to see CEJ. Think he causes more problems for GGG and has a bit more a size advantage over Brook. I also think he's quicker and has more flair. That said, Eubanks Jr also had terrible defence and in my opinion would be a sitting duck to Golovkin. Both end the same way (KO middle rounds), it's just a case of who can take him furthest!

Regarding Benn v Eubanks - think it's a bit harsh to judge at this point, Benn is only 3 fights in and only 19. He has a few years yet until he reaches the age Eubanks made his pro-début. At the end of the day it'll come down to who has the best attitude/application and is better managed. So far on a technical level Eubanks has made massive strides since his pro début but is very badly managed. Let's see where Benn is in 10 fights time.

I'd say there's many an am with as much talent as Benn, and a fair few who are considerably better. They aren't as blessed with the surname though! Good luck to him though of course.

Eubank Jnr was frustrating more than anything. He doesn't carry power though and is too easy to hit. He won't improve on these weaknesses anytime soon unfortunately and it will cost him dear against someone like Golovkin. I think GGG would steamroller him. Two rounds.

I'd have rather seen Eubank in there, but I think he'd have had done to him what he did to Blackwell, so it's probably for the best that he's not. Unless he's ill or injured, Golovkin won't find a challenge below 168. The top three British SMWs could all stand up to him.

The first time Eubank stepped up he looked far from world class? Interesting, since it was a close fight, BJS went on to win a title immediately, and Eubank dominated the second half. Feel free to stick with whatever view suits you though.

Eubank Jnr no more wants to fight Golovkin than Eubank Snr wanted to fight Jones or Toney.

eubank dont deserve a shot at triple g, i do not think eubank would beat David Lemieux, why dont jr fight Curtis Stevens or some one

Give eubanks time. With his development hes not near due to fight golvokin anytime soon. The saunders fight was a bit too soon itself. But hes done well with his progression...just needs to start kicking him on now. I think he ll be a proper challenger in a few years time.

Regarding benns son. Only seen one of his fights think it was his first one. I think hes got potential. Just rushing his work and trying to be like his dad too much atm. But he ll settle down giving time. Dont think he has the same singlemindedness as eubanks boy tho.
