what impresses me is for someone that bulky and with limited amateur experience he seems very relaxed and his punches go fluidly rather than tightly. late start in boxing + bulky is one of the 'worst' combos for guys looking up tight. yarde seems very much a natural.

ya hes beaten a lot of bums but the last guy was a durable vet whod drawn for the 175 ebu just a fight before so that imo pushes yarde up to the next level . would like to see him continuing with that gradual stepping up.

btw he doesnt at all look like chris keane does he

At the Copper Box on Feb 10th. No opponent yet.

i like the yarde + dubois combo a lot. that is pure fun brutal boxing. as long as matched appropriatly.

Would like to see him matched with a Light Heavy of similar size soon and see if he takes a shot - as Sjekloca certainly caught him a few times but lacked power.

Heard he's boxing for the European title next. The real one and hopefully not that WBO bauble thing.

Interesting... Karo Murat is EBU champ.

At first wondered how Yarde would be eligible; the latest ranking up on the EBU site (for November) doesn't rank him. But then realised with his last win, he will be top 3; Nikola Sjekloca was ranked 3, and Yarde won convincingly.

I understand they've matched Yarde carefully (and wisely) so far given his lack of amateur experience; but a real shame if he continues to avoid challenging for the British title.

karo murats better than buglioni imo. just stopped a decent 24-0 prospect last fight and has been around the top 20 for years, with plenty of experience vs top lhws. second to last fight also stopped a guy who took bivol the distance right after.

no doubt hes legit euro level at 175. i cant really buy that buglioni and burton are any better than murat.burton has lost to every lhw hes faced whose better than miles shinkwin.

id be very pleased with yarde vs murat for the ebu. it would mean in his last 2 hes moved ahead a lot with the opponents

Murat isn't very good, Yarde would destroy him. It would be a good fight to make though, Frank shouldn't be worried about that.

Yes he is. I'm sure their is a ruling saying u can't box for the European title if u had boxed for wbo European title in the perious 12 months.

Is that a rule from the EBU or the WBO?

Not sure if they have paid the guy to step a side but this is still scheduled for purse bids for the EBU belt apparently.

LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT

Champion: Karo MURAT - Serhyi DEMCHENKO

Deadline purse offers/agreements : Mon 15th January 2018 at 12noon (Rome office time)

Hopefully they can make Yarde/Murat, it's a good step up for Yarde.

Clev did him in 10 and Barrera in 5, makes a real statement if he can do it quicker than both.

Yarde is an absolute beast, can you imagine him mixing with the likes of Bivol and Beterbiev. If all continues to plan, it may be on the cards, assuming Warren doesn't ruin it with his cautious matchmaking, which is entirely possible of course.

Jesus, we could be in store for some 175 lb Ibeabuchi/Tua type matchups in there. Assuming his chin holds up of course!

If chin rumours are to be believed he would be stretchered out against those lads, but you never know.

A source who was there to witness but not gonna say any more cause I wasn't there first hand and don't want to spread shite about a young lad making his way in the game that may not be accurate, so I'll leave it and wish him luck.

Are you thinking of Joshua Buatsi?

I'd say that anywhere around 6' is ideal at 175, because that's bang in the middle of the common range. It's tall enough for cruiser if you have the natural size (The Cat's a great example).

Yarde has just entered the TBRB top 10 at 175.

Light Heavyweight
Champion Adonis Stevenson
1. Sergey Kovalev
2. Dmitry Bivol ↑ from 8
3. Badou Jack
4. Eleider Alvarez
5. Sullivan Barrera ↓ from 2
6. Oleksandr Gvozdk
7. Joe Smith Jr.
8. Artur Beterbiev
9. Marcus Browne
10. Anthony Yarde *

Igor Mikhalkin exits with loss

Well I've pretty much exhausted what I can see of him fighting.
And I don't see anything more than a guy with power.
He gets hit easily by absolute tomato cans when they do decide to hit back.
LHW has some very decent fighters a huge level above what he is showing right now. Early day though, but he isn't going to learn anything until they put a live opponent in front of him. Then maybe we will see where he is at.

him getting hit easily is totally overblown, ppl said it about him vs averlant but averlant hardly landed a clean shot, was missing vast majority and what he did land was grazing due to yardes head mivement. i do wonder though if yarde should bevdefending with his hands so low and simply rolling, as he does now

and its strange how ppl talk of guys like skejoca (drew for 175 ebu title right before) and averlant like cans, but then talk up guys like burton and buglioni like theyve won vs much better opponents in many great tests

Yeah his last two fights were against solid enough opponents, but neither were punchers.

It will be interesting to see if he adopts a more cautious style when facing someone with a bit of power.

It's a shame we probably won't see him in with the Buglioni/Johnson winner.

He's looked the part so far, but then he should do against such limited & often undersized opponents. He often looks a couple of weight classes above who he's facing.

But eventually even the cautious Warren will have to test him & I think he'll come a cropper at his first legit opponent & not sure how someone so confident will handle a loss.

would people be satisfied with the following for yarde next. many of these guys are ranked with the wbo too:

boxrec #17 dominic boesel http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/553831:

27-1 ebu champ. beat yardes last opponent 116-112, 117-111, 118-111. one loss was to karo murat when he ran out of gas and got stopped in the 11th while up on points

#26 enrico koelling http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/627782

25-2. decent boxer and former olympian and good amateur. some decent-ish wins over guys like ryno liebenberg (x2), gatekeeper of euro scene sergey demchenko,, and upsetter oleksander cherkiak. losses to beterbiev and mirco ricci, who was actually kod later by demchenko. lack of pop though with only 8 stoppages.

#29 adam deines http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/711755

14-0 german who just outpointed previously unbeaten wbss alternate and olympian stefan hartel

#37 mike lee http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/529069

former collegiate boxing champ in us who got some early hype. has a bunch of wins over C-ish level opposition and looks okay but deffo not top level.

#19 humberto velasquez torres http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/530930

knocked out thomas williams jr last fight in what was a big step up

#30 doudou ngumbu http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/384101

funny name but been a good name on the euro scene for years. beat an 18-0 prospect last year and also beaten guys like vacheslav uzelkov (former world title challenger and kod campillo) and alexey kumesky (former world title challenger who was only to beat mikhalkin before kov). also gave fonfara a tough fight. lost to mikhalkin, salamov, mohemmadi on the euro scene.

#33 egor mekhonstev http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/669242

former olympic champ who is decent but clearly not as effective in the pros. 13-0-1 with the draw against 16-4 alexander johnson.

#13 karo murat http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/372191

long time contender and high level ebu guy. just came from behind to beat current ebu champ boesel, who was unbeaten. also beat campillo years ago. fought lots of top guys but never beat them.

Murat or Bossel would be great.
Quinlan from Oz I would like, if he gets past Hooper (which he should) that would be a good one for the WBO inter' belt.
