'opkins winning the fight but in the 8th round Smiff catches him with a flurry of blows & knocks 'opkins out of the ring.

'opkins tries to claim he was pushed out of the ring & that he hurt his ankle. He was trying to get Smiff DQ'd, the wanker.

I was at the Staples when he did some shite claiming his shoulder was fucked.

He is an all time great & a genius in the ring but he is a cheating b@stard and luckily the right man won tonight.

As he got to his feet you could clearly see he was on legs that were clearly not his own, hurt ankle or not, they were wobbly from the hip down.

He has a winners mentality that refuses to believe he is beat legitimately. That's what has made him a great ... unfortunately it makes him look a tosser when he loses!

He landed on his head/back so how the hell did he hurt his ankle !!! Cheating rat was beaten fair and square.

What an embarrassing end to a great career.

Moral of the story? Don't fight beyond your 50th year

Watched monaghan the other night, he looked terrible, he was lucky to get the win against Calderon in my opinion, and looked seriously outgunned at times.

Smith doesn't do anything flashy, but he's better than he looks, and he can certainly bang.

Hopkins had a legitimately great career and obviously had incredible longevity. Rather anticlimactic ending, but them's the breaks. Generally speaking, I won't miss watching him as he could be very negative and spoiled a lot, but I'll never forget the way he ruined and exposed Pavlik.

Strange ending indeed,I thought the knockdown was legit,as soon as Hopkins went through they ropes I knew he wouldn't continue, it wasnt a great fight but it was close so it would have been interesting to see how the scored tallied up at the end

Never thought much of Usyk TBH his movement is great but I thought his timing was off,Mchunu looked tiny compared to him,still credit to get the KO

Yes Stevenson should get a worthy challenger for his considerable sharp shooting talents.

I'd pick Smith to beat him.

I understand how people dislike the attitude, personality and career trajectory of Stevenson. But people have been too quick to write off his abilities and now he may have a genuine rival. I certainly would not write him off and I feel he is an outstanding fighter. Also the fight with Williams was terrific fun while it lasted.

Seriously it was a horrific end to a legends career,bernies two years out... at 52 aged him.... but it was still dead even....on my card.....if the ropes hadn't been loose and he didn't fall out he woulda survived the storm Ber-Naard had one hell of a chin right to the end

Bernard Hopkins is one of my favourite characters in boxing - and one of my favourite fighters. I love him - he’s a legend, he is smart - he upsets the odds, he duffs up young guns etc....great, great example and testament to leading a clean lifestyle (healthy etc.....I’ve no idea what he gets up to in his free time - actually yes I do - they say he is never out the gym.......

And yet for all of that, in his fight with Calzaghe I distinctly remember that he tried to cheat, he stank the joint out and he disgusted me so I should not like him - but I do. The good outweighs the bad.......I know Hopkins beat ODLH twice (I think....) Did he ever have a fight with Shane Moseley?? I don’t remember.

You win fights on what you do inside 36 minutes and not what is on your resumé. Good finish.

One final question - has Hopkins ever been stopped or put down before? (I seem to remember Jones Junior did him on points, or was it 8th round stoppage, I forget?)

First time he was stopped, but hes been down against Smith, Kovalev, Pascal (2x), and Mercado (2×).
