Re: Luis Concepcion (c) vs. Kal Yafai - December 10th 2016
Non title or cancelled at this rate, another fight spoilt on the undercard

Title at stake for Yafai only, if Concepcion wins title is vacant.tony1234 wrote:Non title or cancelled at this rate, another fight spoilt on the undercard

Title only on the line for Yafai.
Re: Luis Concepcion (c) vs. Kal Yafai - December 10th 2016
Had money on Concepcion and this has now dropped further to 2/1.
Bit surprising he came in almost a full weight division above as he has fairly recently came up from Fly.
Has he simply cut a lot of corners, or is this a case of Concepcion arriving late and struggling to drop weight in a cooler climate? Could he even be trying to get a deliberate advantage.... Kal was looking pretty gaunt in the interview. Anyone know if he attempted to shift the weight at a second weigh-in?
Yafai untested and unproven anywhere near this level and I've not seen much evidence to suggest he'll excel at world level. Can see the judges giving him the benefit of the doubt in close rounds though.

I don't like Yafai...but I don't like guys who don't try to make weight...ah well go on Concepcion, a fighter should at least have beaten someone of quality to get a world title fight...

How the hell has he not made weight?
Came up a division, about 3" shorter than Yafai and looks physically smaller build wise
Did he forget to take his concrete shoes off?

Even though I thought this was a poor fight and I was disspointed in Concepcion. Kal deserves a lot of credit
Only Chocolatito, Inoue and Cuadras could definitely be considered better fighters as the weight than Concepcion. So he was legit world level at that weight class.
Kal didn't get some idiot for a vacant belt he dominated a legit top 5 guy in that weight class so deserves a lot of plaudits for last night

Excellent performance by Kal, but Conception didn't seem at the races at all.
Not sure if it was the psychological blow of loosing his belt on the scales or if he was jetlagged, but he looked terrible.
Credit where it is due, though, Kal was crisp and efficient with his work and won the title in convincing fashion.

Excellent performance from Yafai, really dominated Concepción, 118-109 on my card, even the rounds I gave to Luis were close,I don't know how much the weight was an issue for Concepción because he looked a bit flat and short on ideas but taking nothing away from Yafai he was superb, his speed, movement, timing were all on point and he never really had to move out of gear, the left hook counters especially were textbook,
I hadn't seen Concepción before but if has that basic comeforward busy style,he very well may have been tailor made for someone with Yafai's style regardless of weight making issues
