Frazier actually has a 1 1/2 inch height advantage and 3 inch reach advantage over tua. They were only maybe 15 lbs apart in their primes. So the idea that tua would simply outmuscle and bully the "smaller" frazier as if he were george foreman is hilarious and innacurate.
Styles do make fighta but kalan just proves his ignorance yet again with this terrible comparison. Frazier actually has a higher k.o % than Tua.

Face it. Tua was a very ordinary fighter with a big hook and a rock for a chin.
But when he faced a real elite guy like Lewis, Tua didn't even show up. Even when he encountered a nominal talent like glass jawed Oleg Maskaev, Tua was schooled until he finally found the Russian's soft chin.
I won't bother comparing Tua and Frazier's power. Both could whack with the hook.
But Frazier was head and shoulders above Tua as an all around fighter.
Faster and far more technically sound.
Frazier wins a very comfortable decision and has Tua reeling and on the verge of being stopped in the late rounds.

Bad day for Tua. He gets beaten and pulped in 12 or 15, partially because he could take it so well. And of course Frazier would bring it.

Joe Frazier by late TKO. Tua had very good chin, but he could be hurt. Savon knocked out him with a single punch in amateurs and totally shot Monte barret first hurt him in the 10th round of their fisrt fight and then knocked him down in 12th. Surely, Tua was old when he fought Barrett, but Barrett was 2 years older and much more washed up. And Monte never was considered a big puncher. Barrett lost his last 3 fights before facing Tua and between Tua-1 and Tua-2 fights he couldn't even beat a former super middleweight with 19-21-2 record.

Kalan wrote:Tua versus Chuvalo, Bonavena, Bugner, or Stander would resemble Tua versus John Ruiz... A 1st round destruction of Biblical proportions... He'd walk straight through those wide open targets and destroy them.
Frazier would to better than those 4... He'd go 2 rounds... He'd hit the deck early and often.
Tua was not in Joe Frazier class that's what the difference would be CLASS

Frazier had class alright... He was a disgrace fighting the fifth rate Jumbo Cummings... Fat as a pig and 3 times as slow -- and swinging like a fairy.
Tua looked almost as bad against Monte Barrett... So If there were 2 guys with very little class it was those 2... But prime for prime Tua smashed guys out who were much bigger and stronger than Frazier and actually did some strength training... You saw what 6'3" X 217 George Foreman did to Smokin'... Frazier bounced off the floor so much, and he looked so round and flabby, he resembled a basketball with ears.
And look...Lewis couldn't hurt David Tua and he's 10 times a harder puncher than Frazier.. Lewis murdered wide open left hooker Razor Ruddock, who was much bigger, taller, stronger, and more brutal than Frazier.. Lewis smashed RR out in 2 but couldn't make Tua blink.. When Frazier faced a big, tall, strong, rock-solid puncher he did more than blink... "DOWN GOES FRAZIER... DOWN GOES FRAZIER... DOWN GOES FRAZIER... IT'S TARGET PRACTICE." Joe was hard to miss.

It would be a frozen smile -- because he'd be iced.. Frazier was too small and stopped and dropped often... Tua was dropped once -- and never stopped.

I loved watching Tua fight but this is close. Both fired away with the hook. Both were inside fighters too. I imagine this would be much like Tua-Ibeabuchi. Just two guys beating the hell out of each other in a phone booth. I give Tua a TKO late just because he had the tougher chin and had the power to put a guy like Frazier down. Foreman proved that Frazier could be dropped and he did it with some thundering hooks. Tua was almost impossible to drop and he had some punishing fights that proved this.

Frazier was a bigger puncher and had the better chin.

Tua's power was unquestionable. Frazier laughed of punches from light punchers like Ali and Bugner. When a big hitter like Foreman landed he didn't laugh. It's impossible to compare how hard boxers hit. But we all know Foreman and Tua both hit very hard. If Tua lands cleanly, it wouldn't be a laughing matter. I think you're just ignoring Tua's power. Maybe he's a fighter you don't like?

I can't believe we're arguing this right now (except for Kalan). One of the greatest fighters ever vs David Tua. Tua didn't have some indestructible chin like everyone thinks , he was put down bye Rahman and Barret. Outboxed easily against Chris Byrd . What could he possibly do to Frazier?

Agreed.
Tua was hopeless: his challenge of Lewis was one of the most embarrassing performances I've ever seen from a so-called top HW fighting for the HW title.
Just to think, some thought Tua was going to end the ageing Lewis's reign too!
Frazier '69 would have thought it was Christmas having to fight a big one dimensional lump with no plan B.

I think the problem in the fight is Tua's chin...which is why he gets pulped instead of KO'd.

Tua could swat, not in the vicinity of foreman. I didn't dislike him so much as I never got the hype. Frazier was infinitely more skilled. The best thing about tuas power is he carried it late. No help here.

Out of 5 fights, Smokin' Joe wins 4. How about that? Is is fair to say?

Now Das sum smart stuff!!!
Herez sum moar rilly smart stuff 2.
Just like Jeffries was a wimp being beaten by Johnson, And Louis was no good, look How Marciano whupped him, and Holmes beat Ali like he owed him money. Holyfield was beaten by Valuev....can you imagine? And I'm not kiddin....all this actually happened. And the only person who seems to take notice is Kalan!
Valero, Ottke, Zellenoff, Ibeabuchi.......that's the 100% club.
And anyone who is currently undefeated is even better than them! The are the "Real Time 100%'ers."!

Hell no, only 4-1? Try 1 out of 40. Easily as big an upset as Tyson/Douglas.

Tua never fought the calibre of fighter that was around in fraziers day if he met a young Foreman he would have been bounced all the way back to his ancestor's home land of Samoa within 5 round's and that's without doubt the only outcome for Tua he had a great chin good left hook and a mean hair cut but that won't be enough against a animal like Smokin Joe

Tua hit hard but moved as if underwater. Easy win for Joe, who would simply beat the shit out of Tua because he was faster, stronger a better boxer with far better defence and skills. Old George Foreman would have beaten a prime Tua, never mind what the George who beat Frazier would do to him.

Glad to see some sanity at work on this thread.
I'd love to know what Tua did in his career for anyone to suggest that he'd had a prayer against a prime Frazier?
