David Tua vs Joe Frazier

Post by Ade L »

Let's say the David Tua of 2002 ( e.g.KO 1 Michael Moorer) vs Joe Frazier circa 1971....could be a great one!

Joe Frazier wears him down and takes him out in the middle rounds

He was a comfortable level above

Frazier takes command by round's 6/7 and his all over Tua when his corner throws in the towel midway through round 8 to save Tua from further punishment :box:

Ain't nobody knocking David Tua out! He got no neck! You can throw a brick to his head and he is not going down. Smokin' Joe by decision.

Perhaps not knock him out, but certainly stop him.
I reckon Joe could do that through accumulation of punishment

Tua is a tough SOB. It's hard to picture him being stopped or knocked out.

Tua would win easily by early KO... He was way too big, strong, and hard punching for Frazier... A bad style for Smokin' like Foreman was.

If you can stop George Chuvalo, you can stop David Tua. Chin strength didn't matter with Frazier, he deformed you.

I'd take Frazier to win via Unanimous Decision. Though I think the best David Tua would've probably been circa 1997 or 1998.

Joe gets slightly hurt in the early going and stops Tua in the 8th round.

Looks somewhat similar to Frazier-Stander, Frazier-Chuvalo.

Tua versus Chuvalo, Bonavena, Bugner, or Stander would resemble Tua versus John Ruiz... A 1st round destruction of Biblical proportions... He'd walk straight through those wide open targets and destroy them.

Frazier would to better than those 4... He'd go 2 rounds... He'd hit the deck early and often.

Frazier survives a flash knockdown after getting suckered into an early brawl then proceeds to absolutely shool and outclass Tua. Hes mark him up and throw everything and the kitchen sink to win an obvious decision or the ref gets tired of seeing the big ol simoan get pummeled.

Joe Frazier is about two classes above Tua, Frazier managed to find Ali with punches then he's going to find tua a totally easy target to hit with everything, He'll outpoint too easily or may even stop him,

You guys don't understand styles... Tua struggled with slick Byrd and Lewis just like George Foreman struggled with Young and Ali... But somebody who's right in front of Tua like John Ruiz or Michael Moorer???? -- He would treat them the same way Foreman crushed Norton and Frazier... He'd squish little Joe.

I don't think David Tua even beats the great Muhammad Ali that fought Leon Spinks.

Real easy fight for Frazier. He has every advantage in the fight. Tua was tough, he could possibly lose a shutout decision. Best case.

If Tua lands his best shot cleanly, then he knocks Frazier down and maybe Frazier doesn't recover. Frazier is the logical choice, but Tua fighting a guy that isn't that difficult to hit, then he obviously has a chance.
