The Sun and Scouse Boxers
Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers
Anyone able to actually post a link to what Haye supposedly did/posted? I don't have a twitter account and from trying to look on there all I can see are celeb based tweets of who he was with on New Years Eve and some statement from the promotional company about fake Haye accounts.

Well said mate, same crap over and over. There are some heartless b*stards in this world who dont give a flying fck about whats right or wrong humainly just about what they think at that time or what their friends are saying. Im a liverpool fan and just across the mersey from liverpool and im damn proud of itElJefe wrote:Unfortunate the some people are using this to get in the same old sly digs at Scousers.
My issue isn't with what David Haye reads. The man is a gimp and has been for years. My issue is with people that trot out the same crap time after time.
'Self pity city', 'victims', 'love a bandwagon', 'just let it go' - the exact same rhetoric used by main stream media for decades to discourage support for the Hillsborough campaign. It's a genuine shame that some people, even after the findings and proof that has come to light in the past few years, continue to buy into that shite, consciously or subconsciously . Would you say the same if your city had been affected in the same way? To be honest, I don't know which answer is better. If you wouldn't, you're a hypocrite. If you would, you're spineless. Imagine if the people of Liverpool had listened to and followed that patronising bullshit for the past 25 years. You'd think the last few years would have changed people's minds. Apparently not.
Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers
Well said. And has The Sun ever apologised? I certainly never heard anything. But I do remember their front page after the Hillsborough inquest (hint: the inquest doesn't get a single mention despite every other newspaper putting it on their front page):cocobongo wrote:CaptainSpacerod wrote:I expect The Sun has very different staff and governance structures now than they did 27 years ago.Boxerbeetle wrote:They're not really the same, they all have very different staff and governance structures. How long is this ridiculous grudge going to be maintained ?
In virtually any other circumstance you can imagine relating to what was at the end of the day only hurtful words, no matter how disgusting the sentiment, the prevailing wisdom would be to move on and let bygones be bygones. Your average scouser of that generation and every one since however has self pity and a victim mentality hardwired into their emotional makeup.
You really are a moron aren't you to try and say the rag is ran by different people then call it a ridiculous grudge, then to make a statement as sweeping as the average scouser has a self pity and victim mentality hardwired into their emotional make up.
I may be the most bitter Evertonian on the planet but we all had friends and relatives at that game, for then that rag to drag their name through the mud with lies and then wonder why we get annoyed that anyone would read the rag, I would love to see your reaction had a similar story involving people you know and see if it was a ridiculous grudge then.
I'm far from the internet hardman or keyboard warrior but i would love to see you say that to one of our faces you piece of poo

I think your last sentence pretty much sums you up. I stand by what I say.
Maybe my average scouser point was a slight exaggeration but certainly a very loud minority seem to take any and every opportunity to feel sorry for themselves and claim victimhood, witness the sickening campaign to free that yobbo who was convicted of attempted murder in Bulgaria
Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers
I was born into a family of mostly scousers so I do have a connection with the city and the people and I do find scousers to be very insular as if their city is the only one that got dumped on during the Thatcher years. I don't think anywhere got it quite as bad as Yorkshire did to be honest.
With regards to The Sun, it's generally read by pig ignorant "I'm not a racist but..." beer bellied builders who aren't quite literate enough to read the Daily Mail.

How far do you take this line of thinking though?
Murdock owns the paper and is Australian, I won't talk to any Aussies.
Murdoch owns Sky so I won't watch their TV.
The Sun was printed on paper so I'll use my hand to wipe my arse.

I haven't heard what Haye or Boomer have said, but if Boomer is trying to latch on to something in order to drum up support/publicity for his fight then surely that would be despicable.
The bit where I (and seemingly others) struggle is that many people seem to pick and choose what they want to boycott depending on what suits them - if you feel so strongly about reading the Sun, do you read the Times/Sunday Times, watch BSkyB, read any books published by Harper Collins or watch any films made by Twentieth Century Fox ?
Sporty Spice got some stick recently about a Sun article or something, yet Jamie Carragher is happy to be paid by the person who owns the Sun yet nobody says a dickie bird.

As someone else has said, there are different management teams/editors directly responsible for each publication. Although, yes, it is part of the same umbrella group and in some instances staff will crossover. But there is a more direct connection with The Sun and their ongoing atrocious 'journalistic' practices. Their refusal to put the Hillsborough inquest on the front page reveals just how despicable they continue to be.bripez wrote:I don't think you will find many people who would disagree in principle with what you are saying, but getting aggressive and calling people morons doesn't help.cocobongo wrote:CaptainSpacerod wrote:

The fight for THE TRUTH and JUSTICE FOR THE 96 meant that the grieving process was marred thats what i meant i didnt mean it stopped them greiving. I just hate the way the ppl up and down this country think that families fighting tooth and nail to clear the names of those passed is judged as wallowing in self pity or jumping on a band wagon, boris johnson aswell said something similar. What lengths would people go to to clear the names of loved ones that they knew had an injustice? Birmingham 6,guilford 4 derek bentley to name a few were all these families wallowing in self pity before they were found to be set up??Counter-puncher wrote:I'm not sure how the grieving process was stopped by a Newspaper article, or indeed how suddenly 27 years later it can suddenly begin.thechump wrote: Your statements are absolute ridiculous, them families have waites 27 fckin years to grieve their loved ones who died that day cause of that rag that you are defending,
